I think Apple is playing the game to keep themselves off the hit list. If they really gave a flying #### about the environment or climate they wouldn't have their products built in China.
Look at it this way. We have a company with billions in cash on hand. They make a money hand over fist. Every major mutual fund carries Apple shares. They have their HQ in the middle of the most liberal part of our country. All of their manufacturing is done by slave labor in China. They inflate the price of their products to maintain a huge profit margin. Sounds like an oil company or any of the other "evil" corporations that are typically vilified by the left, occupoopers or other whack job anti-free market groups.
How do you keep from being a target of these groups? Marketing! Apple marketing folks are pulling off the grandest of illusions IMO. Put up some solar panel and windmills, go with green technology and spout green from the rooftops at Cupertino! Tell the conservative think tank to piss up a rope if they don't like it by God, we're green at Apple! Stroke the egos and market directly to the dimwits that believe in AGW and the merits of green tech. Because if you do all of these things, you can still make a shitload of money, overprice your products and use slave labor from a communist country that is polluting the world in ways the US has never even imagined.
Did Apple stock have a major sell off after Cook made this statement? Nope. Still plugging along, minting cash like it's going out of style. All under the very radar of those who loathe companies that do so. Marketing genius.
Forgot to mention executive pay. These guys a flithy rich and receive huge pay, bonuses and perks. Anyone recall the last time the read a hit piece article bitching about the money they make?
Already out. No intention of getting back in. I try to only invest in company's with sound management. Thus, no MSFT, no airlines, no US autos, etc. However oil companies and evil tobacco are a different matter.

The real reason that Apple will lose business is because a true visionary, Steve Jobs, no longer runs the company. Contrary to leftist's beliefs, one or two men do really build a company. As to proof, I give you the fact that Apple almost died twice after ousting Jobs.

Hiring Lisa Jackson, spending money on climate change bullshit - the guy is going to be a disaster for Apple. He's already got reputation for not being that bright and bringing out boring products and he hasn't even been there that long. This will not enhance his reputation.
Perhaps he'll have Apple come out with an Al Gore 6 phone Comes in rainbow color only and the weather app always is 20 degrees high with a forecast of global warming every day.
It should have an app for melting ice.
