If that was really the case, he wouldn't need to attack free enterprise. A lot of the words he uses in that "exhortation" come straight from Marxist talking points.
How he can claim that free enterprise has never been proven to bring about greater justice and inclusiveness is beyond me. He displays a rather remarkable degree of ignorance for a pope. And communist brain washing. Two minutes on Google would show him graphs showing affluence of the world's people is directly related to the degree of individual economic freedom they enjoy. How did he miss all the evidence? Perhaps he doesn't want to see it because it contradicts his mindset.
I defy anyone to tell me of a nation that ever had free enterprise. No nation has ever been fool enough to try it in all of history. A notion untried and untested is absolutely not proven. Free of taxes, rules and laws is not a situation that can ever exist. And that is what the FREE in free enterprise is all about.

Actually, he is right in saying that those in control of economic power are not real interested in making things great for the masses. I look to our own history with slavery, chinese and other immigrant railroad workers, coal miners, etc. If the economic powerhouses would occasionally do the right thing, government would not have aleg to stand on to interfere.
I'm not sure he is communist. He is, after all, living the life as Jesus instructed. And he has knocked the props from uder a lot of selfcentered, not very Christian bishops and Cardinals and priests. So far, I kinda like him. But then, I'm not Catholic, so maybe that makes a difference.
