  • Deal Making: Why did Congress give President Obama the budget he requested in the omnibus bill? The Establishment made it happen. Why did so many oppose the Iran Deal, yet it was allowed to creep under a veto-proof dissent? The Establishment cut a deal. Why does Obamacare still exist? The Establishment caved to dealmaking.

• Maybe it's because they know he's going to be the nominee, and are going to have to deal with him one way or the other.

  • They might feel they'll need to work with HIM, but that's no reason he should work with THEM.

    • Why not? His actual phrase was ....What we're trying to do right now is work with the Mitch McConnells.... plural, as he later clarified as party officials, not McConnel per se. He aready won the state, why not try to unite the party?

      • If, by unite the party, you mean get the RINOs under control until you can get them tossed out and replaced with conservatives, I agree. If you mean compromising with them to gain their support, I don't.

        • Compromising with them to gain their support is Trump's whole plan.

• Of course Boner and bitchyMitchy hate Cruz, he has trashed both of them on the Senate floor. They would support Bozo the Clown before they would support Cruz on anything. Christie and Rubio are climbing on the front runners coattails, they would be doing the same thing if the presumed nominee was Fiorina. They are aiming for some kind of position in the next administration. What Dole, McCant and Bush think is irrelevant, they are old has-beens who have outlived their usefulness.

  Trump is doing the right thing by talking with House and Senate leaders, he is going to have to work with them after he gets elected. Trump needs 47% of the remaining delegates to get to the magic number of 1237, while Cruz is already mathematically eliminated. He is hoping he and Kasich can draw enough votes to force a contested convention and the chance of that is getting less with every state primary.

• I'm not sure what to think other than he fking better be talking to the party cadre. I would hope that Cruz has done the same and wouldn't hold it against either candidate. I see it as an opportunity for either candidate to tell the party to pull their heads out of their 19th century asses and get with the new millenium. Let them know this is the last chance for the party to get behind the PEOPLE or be prepared to watch it all go into the toilet. Now if Trump were to hit the stage at a rally and bring Mtich the Btich (with Eye of the Tiger blasting in the background ) onstage for a 'holding hands in the air' photo op…blech!

• Trump trying to work out agreement with McConnell? Oh no that's it!! How can I ever vote for Trump when he keeps trying to mend fences with the ppl he'll have to work with in Washington? I'll just have to support Lucifer The Canadian Lawyer from now on. Oh woe is me!

• OK, this is exactly what I was talking about when it was announced that Cruz and Gaybitch said they were cooperating to stop Trumpertantrum. I don't trust Gaybitch any further than I can throw the White House with Mooch inside! I remember a few weeks ago that Gaybitch and Trumpertantrum were teaming up, and there was no outcry, but when it was Gaybitch and Cruz, all of a sudden Trumpertantrum was all up in arms, and calling it collusion! Yet another example of Trumpertantrum and his one way street mindset. It's all OK as long as you are going his way, but go the opposite way, and he blows his top.

• You know, I'm not a bit Trump fan, but I'm not anti-Trump either. I'm not a bit Cruz fan (he reminds me of Elmer Gantry), but I'm not anti-Cruz either. Kasich has a snowballs' chance and isn't worth spending time on.

  I'll vote for whoever the nominee is.

  But I think I Hate the Media needs to get off of it's NeverTrump diatribes and stick to what you do best--satire.

  According to IHTM, because Trump has donated to both parties as a businessman, he is toxic. In my business, I have to work with academia, the government, and contractors. So what does that make me?

  According to IHTM, because Trump is receiving direct or indirect favorable comments from RINOs, he is too toxic.

  Let me remind you that Reagan got along with both conservatives, RINOs, and liberals in Congress and is considered one of the greatest Presidents. Reagan was also a former Democrat, and a Hollywood Democrat as well. Reagan also supported Barry Goldwater in his failed bid to become President.

  People evolve. I have evolved. You have evolved.

  The brutal fact is that Cruz is going to have to cut deals (aka compromise) to get anything close to what he wants through congress.

  I think the question becomes, who is better at making a deal that is in the best interest of America when he can't get everything he wants?

  • As for the next president being the kind of person who's good at making deals... I think most are weary of being handed bad deals because we insisted on people who were good at making them and a good part of me sees this particular version of our government richly deserving of the intransigence that a Ted Cruz is being characterized as having.

  • You're missing the point. Trump is a liberal through and through, and a particularly egregious, dishonest, and incompetent one at that. Comparing him to Reagan (chuckle) isn't going to change that fact. By the way, Trump is on the record at the time criticizing the Reagan tax plan and just about everything else Reagan did, so the comparison is especially misdirected. That so many so-called Republicans are jumping on Trump's bandwagon is the weirdest case of mass delusion I have ever seen, worse than what I saw in 2008 when everybody jumped on the Obama bandwagon. From abortion and every other social issue to the role of government in our healthcare decisions to the notion that the federal government can solve its deficit problem by increasing taxes, THE MAN IS A LIBERAL. Trump holds not one single conservative position. He was sent to ruin the 2016 culmination of the conservative revolution by McConnell, Boehner, and the rest of the RINO establishment, and thanks to the American public's stupidity, it's working.

    But do you collude with government officials to keep other's from starting up business that may compete with you? Do you collude with government officials to condemn the property of others so you can steal it? do you collude with government officials to make sure bankruptcy laws are not reformed so you can repeatedly take advantage of them and screw the taxpayers and other small businesses?,,,I think there is a big difference between you and Trump.

• I feel about Trump as I feel about Obama and Hillary. I have turrets whenever I see or hear them. I can't control the words that come out of my mouth.

  • LOL!! When I first read your post, I stopped after the 2nd sentence, and asked myself where your castle was! I would love to have turrets around my property, where I cold post sharpshooters, to fight off the inevitable government siege. Then I read the rest and realized that I do have Tourette's, and are just like you!

• Cruz gets excorioated for rightly calling out Mitch on the Senate floor, yet those same people claim HE'S the establishment.

  • I mostly agree with you but I haven't completely discounted the possibility that Cruz's move was simply political theatrics- symbolism with no meaningful implications for future government policies or its composition- like all the symbolic voting to defund/repeal Obamacare for example.

    I wonder if Ted was afforded the luxury of "standing up to the establishment" when the agenda had already been secured behind closed doors.

    • Not likely, since Cruz has been holding these views long before he was in the Senate.

      • I confess a fairly unhealthy level of skepticism. To establishment political elites, we're all tools- whether a bureaucrat like Cruz willingly goes along or is merely afforded a calculated measure of "leeway" to say what he sincerely believes seems almost irrelevant.

        At present the aim seems to very much be- divide those of us who would push for meaningful reforms that among other things, wrest our bureaucracy from whatever has been dictating what our legislature does. I will offend anyone to some degree because I do not completely but into any candidacy and as much as I've leaned toward Cruz being our best hope I have nagging doubts about him.
