“Turkey is not part of Europe.” So said the German Finance Minister Wednesday, maybe the most politically incorrect words ever spoken by a government official… albeit completely accurate geographically.

Turkey is & is not part of Europe. They are link between Europe & the Middle East. They are important because of that, & that is why they are part of the EU & NATO. However, culturally, they generally have Islamic sensitivities. Many younger Turks don't share those leanings, but from what I can tell, Turkey is a conflicted nation with split loyalties. I don't know how well they can walk the line between the 2 very different ideals & ways of life that are competing for the same space.
I think your analysis is accurate. They may be next up in the Islamic World Civil War carousel.
If it does happen, it wouldn't be the 1st time. Istanbul used to be called Constantinople way back in the day. Islamists are the reason for that change. History has a way of repeating itself.
The seven cities/churches of Revelation are/were located in what we now know of today as Turkey. I don't know if it is all allegorical where those cities were used as mini examples of the different times of the entire Church or if the country/cities themselves have something to apport to world history. The Apostle Paul worked hard to evangelize it and Constantine tried to keep it a Christendom if I am not mistaken but it still fell to Islam. I don't know what its importance is in history. Every now and then there is a story about it and then of course there is unrest like many other Islamic countries. They claim to be secular but we know it is not. It could be that since they were just close to Patmos the Spirit used it as an example (in addition to actually sending them letters for them to shape up at the time) and it is not Turkey per se that is an issue. I don't know... I just find it interesting how it wants to be European so badly while still holding on to a religion that refuses to move into contemporary times. Odd..
Wow... stalker your debate skills are so on point...
Kimmy you have a "fan club" of one.....If you were a Hollywood star he would be chasing your car with a camera.....:) At least in that instance you could stomp on the brakes and cause him/her to slam into your trunk and enjoy the moment.
LOL that would be fun indeed.
He argues veeeeerrrrry subtly!
How wrong! Turkey has always been rightfully known as "the sick man of Europe".
But it is part of thanksgiving..:)
That was awesome!
Yeah, I liked that too!
So is ham. Take THAT, Muslims!
LOL!!!!
So why did they let Turkey into the EU?
They didn't. That's what the German Finance Minister was saying.
