• Besides the pathetic point about buying bombs for your revolution with an EBT card, using a pipe bomb on the Gateway Arch is like shooting an elephant with a pellet gun.

  • The analgogy's great, JP, but have you seen todays pellet guns? 2000+ feet/second (comparable to a .22 long rifle) with many types of pellets-hollow points, darts, etc. Can be very dangerous in the wrong (or right) hands. But a pipe bomb? What's that gonna do? Stop a couple elevators?

    • I think this is the second time I've referred to pellet guns here in IHTM and someone's corrected me. I guess I need to go buy one of these new pellet guns. When I was a kid, a pellet gun was barely powerful enough to break a neighbor's front window. (Don't ask me how I know that.)

      • I believe Quackenbush makes air rifles capable of taking down large game. Of course, the price is far beyond any EBT purchasing power.

        • I have a pellet from a fairly high powered rifle lodged between two ribs. It's been there since 2007. Of course, it was fired from just a couple feet away.

  • To be honest, the article doesn't make sense. I can see a person buying the materials to make a pipe bomb, but I have no idea where a person could buy an off-the-shelf pipe bomb.
