As I stated earlier, anyone pro-British should be 100% against such a despicable and heinous regime.
I've been saying this for decades.
All sorts of highly evolved, more intelligent, and enlightened people pooh-pooh the slippery slope argument. What none of them understand, or want to understand, are the dynamics of it.
The slippery slope does not just "happen". Someone, in whose interest it is, MAKES it happen.
The following is an objective commentary. It is not a judgement of gay people or what their rights and privileges are or should be in society. It is not a statement of agreement or disagreement with any acceptances or lack thereof of any group of people.
In society, we draw lines. On this side, it's okay. On that side, it's not. But all these things that we collectively judge are not simply black and white. There are shades of gray. And invariably, someone is JUUUUST on the wrong side of that line.
And of course, those people will want to be on the "right" side of the line. So they form groups to "educate", and/or lobby for changes. They want to get everyone to just nudge that line a little and accept them. The reasons for wanting the acceptance is another story - but that is what they do. It's huan nature.
So rightly or wrongly, the line is moved, either by legislation, judicial fiat, or societal evolution.
And what happens? There is still someone just barely on the wrong side of the line. Someone else.
Now that someone else may have been already active in trying to move the line, knowing that they will be next in line. Or maybe they were lying dormant, content to hide in a closet, and awaken only after someone else's acceptance by society. It's irrelevant which. The fact is that there they are. And they will do what human nature directs them to do. They will try to gain acceptance.
And the cycle repeats.
Until, well you can imagine where it could end up. Kind of makes Lord of the Flies look like a pretty civilized way to live.
Every time we move a line, a line that needs to be moved for justice, or just due to buckling under pressure, we have to realize that there will always be someone next in line. And they will be humans, and they will have self-motivation, the ability to make decisions, express desires, and they will have the same human desires as everyone else (even the learned, highly evolved, intelligentsia, much to the intelligentsia's surprise). And they will do what humans do.

See, the scope of interest is interchangeable. Applicable to whichevernanomalous behaviour is currently being discussed. The goal is for anything to be considered normal and allowable. If you claim anything is wrong, you are laughed out of the conversation as being a religious bigot and/or ignorant and unsophisticated of the ways of the world.
