Unemployment benefit applications jump to 399,000

Unemployment benefit applications jump to 399,000. And following all the glowing retail sales reports for Christmas, the actual numbers reported today show a mere .1% rise. Hey, remember last week when the U3 unemployment rate “fell” to 8.5% and the “good news” was all over the media like Adolf Hitler voter applications in Wisconsin? How many stories about this not-so-good news didja see today? We thought so.

Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one. For recreation, I run, hike, kayak and play tennis but will not consider synchronized swimming under any circumstances.

  • Wasn't Der Feuhrer just bragging about how he produced a million more jobs last month? Well, if that's true, half of them just went to shit. It was the Christmas Holiday jobs (part time and temporary) you idiot. But the libs believe him.

  • I am so glad that the rate was never going to go above 8%. Could be worse though, right? Isn't that the new mantra for everything? Heck of a legacy for a Presidency: Hey, it could have been worse!

    • It was worse! They are now touting how well they're doing, and the numbers are still worse than they were 4 years ago!

  • A couple weeks ago the Obama Media was touting to their brainwashed masses how the employment figures had suddenly decreased surely as a result of their idol's programs finally starting to work. Anyone that is not a gullible dope knew it was related to Christm er I mean the annual non-eimonational winter holiday shopathon and that this is exactly what would happen effective 1/1....and you are right Sidekick, the numbers will be revised upward.....as they are every month.

  • It's amazing that the number is 399,000 ... why not 3999,999?
It's only a number lower than 400K at all costs, pulled from Obama's unicorn's butt.

    • The BLS will probably revise it upward soon. The administration revises it's economic figures constantly. Always in the opposite direction of the first figure.

  • I've heard Rush, Mark Levin, Doc Savage, and Sean talk about the media's flagrant cooking of the books when it comes to the unemployment figures. I suppose that pretty soon only a handful of us will be working and that will represent an unemployment rate of less than 1.2%, or less than any other developed nation on the face of the earth! Yeah...GoBama!

    • Hey, when you control the media, you control the discourse, the facts, the mood. Any creative writing student can make bad news sound like you just won the lottery!
When the people wake up to the bullshit, things will have to change.
