• Just wth is it with aging terrorists becoming professors, is it really as simple as warping young minds? Here's another one from the Great White North

• Ayers belongs in a federal prison and not seeing the light of day. Yet he is the right hand jerk man for quagmire. I remember his actions as a kid and didn't understand then and I sure as hell don't wish to understand the first thing about him except that he hates the US. He hates everything that this nation stands for and the flexibility that the citizens are granted.

  For someone who hates capitalism and all that it affords people, he and his hag wife sure want to enjoy all that it offers. Such as a multi million dollar home, limos and private jets.

  Here is hoping he finds himself in bankruptcy and on the street. That way he can practice what he has been preaching for decades.

• Okay, let's analyze this a little.

  When I buy a non-fiction, politically oriented book written by Thomas Sowell, PJ O'Rourke, Jonah Goldberg, just to cite a few random examples, what do I expect?

  I expect to read analysis of facts and viewpoints. This enables me to sort of "shift viewpoints" and compare those facts and analyses with my own, and adjust accordingly. Sometimes that happens right away, and sometimes I will hold those facts and anlyses in the "pending basket" and apply them to observations in life. Always, I try to identify and eliminate any biases. This, I believe, is what intelligence is made of.

  But here you have a few hundred pages of avoidance of contradictory facts, which avoidance is usually subconscious to boot, and carefully selected half truths and lies. Applied to a rigid, never-questioned dogma, there is no need to read it on the part of supporters of said dogma. As for the other side of the debate, there is no need to read it because there is nothing to be gained from it. Unless one wants to see a living example of the use of half-truths, lies, and fixed ideas. But once you've seen one of those, you've seen them all - there is no substantive difference from one leftist to another.
