So once again , for the billionth tie, CHina and Japan are arguing. Is anyone surprised? This is like all the middle Eastern flak. THey have been warring on each other since timeimmemorial and ren't stopping anytime soon. Before we get sucked in, I recommend a review of the ietnam and Korena war. Do we really want to poke that particular dragon? Especially since we owe them our souls. thanks to generations of overspending?

I'm also wondering if there was a fighter escort not mentioned in the article. Many a wargame had punished me for floating the bombers without cover. I want to see carrier groups en-route
There is some MAJOR oil and gas deposits in the area. Thing is, even though China is drilling on their side of the EEZ, the way the continental shelf runs, the oil and gas they are sucking up are actually on Japan's side. China, Japan, AND Taiwan all have consistently deployed warships (or in Japan's case, Self Defense Force ships) to the area for years. Everyone thinks a war with China will start due to Taiwan. However, I posit it will start over resources in the contested areas like the ECS & SCS where various countries' EEZs all intersect (another bang up job to the UNSC and their 1968 maritime law).
Nope, there will be no war because Obama has promised a worldwide transition to solar panels, windmills, and ethanol, remember? Nobody will even need oil in a couple years.

That's what I thought when I saw the photo. Like, are we sure these are islands or did somebody just let their cammo rafts float away?
Much like the Paracel and Spratley Islands in the SCS, many of the disputed "Islands" in the ECS are much more akin to pebbles sticking out at low tide.
And China is acting like a 3 year old with a toy, "MINE, MINE, MINE"
But, but, but, according to the CNO and Commander of PACOM, GW is more of a threat to us than China!
As soon as Obungles reads about this in the news, some military man with a big pair is getting demoted.
