While I deplore the government funding for this, itis true that fat people are the #1 most harassed. It isn't PC to say anything about mentslly ill, or challenged. No one can speak to race or ethnicity. Only fat people are disrespected, accus e d of being stupid, undisciplined, lazy simply because of their weight. And that behaviour generally does not encourage weight loss, increa in exercise, or diet. It makes the problem worse. We ALL need to.look beyond the superficial to thepersoninside that body, and respond to them, nottheir weight.
What do you consider harassment? Does not wanting a fat person next to me in an airplane make me a bad person? I feel cramped enough in those seats because my legs are too long - I don't need a fat person spilling over my armrest too.
As for the "undisciplined" thing: we do know what causes that weight. It's not magic fairy dust. I lost a good friend last week, died in his tree blind while hunting, and because of his weight we all assume it was a heart attack. His weight didn't make me like him any less - I just wish I hadn't been so silent on the issue in general. How much would it have cost me to say, "Stop eating, Mike!" I would hate to think good advice might be considered harassment someday.
You want to see harassment? Me ex-fiance was 5'7", 103 pounds. People consider thin people to be fair game when it comes to saying stupid and hurtful things, right to their faces.
People are f**king rude a**holes. It doesn't really matter what you look like, they will find something stupid to say.
