Utah School Board says cougar mascot too offensive to women. Damn,
no wonder Mercury discontinued the car named after large cat. This Skool Bored must be Dodge fans ’cause they want the mascot to be “Charger” (hey, ain’t that insulting to overspending politicians?) How long before they won’t let us hang clothes in our closets because empty suits are too offensive to Obama?

Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages.     • I saw this a long while back. I couldn't believe it. The sad part that it goes unnoticed for so long because the majority of the parents dont even bother to ask their kids "what did you learn today?" At the very least that one question and an honest answer from the child should raise red flags. Where is the ACLU? Isn't this a government entity(state funded textbooks and such) supporting, promoting or choosing a religious practice over others? Where are the cries of separation of "church" and state? Maybe because Islam doesn't have "churches".

      • Nah, liberals just love their caveman religions. It echoes their opinion of all other religions, and this one happens to hate the things they also hate -- the US, Christians, the Jewish, freedom, kindness, charity, etc., etc., etc.

        Yuma High School in Yuma, Arizona has a large man in a black and white jail outfit as its school mascot. They call themselves the Criminals.

        Unicorns

        Unicorns, the mythical horses with a single horn on their heads, are the mascot for students who attend New Braunfels High. The school is located in New Braunfels, Texas.

        NOW NOW just back off and wait a minit folks... Ok 1 New Braunfels... GERMAN and Mexican And regular anglo influence. you've never tasted such sausage. and just down the highway is Blue Bell the Country's Best Ice Cream.

        I've worked and eaten in the New Braunfels area. I can only hope the reasoning behind it is cuz 'corns are noble, pure, and virginal, even as they seek virginal chaste romance.

        • Great post but after reading it I feel compelled to offer a reasonable suggestion for the mascot name at Yuma High School, if that's what this was about; Yumacorn.

        • From the official website of Yuma High School,...

          "City officials notified the school in 1912 that they needed the Prison as a city jail. The school board proposed and successfully carried through a bond election to build a new school. Thus, in 1913, school began in the newly constructed Main. That same year, the Yuma football team traveled to Phoenix to play the "Coyotes". Yuma High won. The angry "Coyotes" dubbed the Yuma High players the "Criminals". At first "Criminals" was a fighting word. Before long, students and teachers wore the name with pride, and in 1917, the school board officially adopted the nickname. Yuma High School has been proudly called the home of the "Criminals" ever since."

          I had to go check into that, since I'm taking my Unicorn to a 3 day Renaissance Faire there in two weeks, and I was kinda nervous about that name.

  • In honor of the school board the school's mascot should be changed to the "weasels" or the "dummies."

  • I can foresee a new porn flick "Cougar High" where horny 40+ year old cougar teachers have their way with the whole football team at once. Considering all the teachers being locked up lately, this could be a documentary.

    • I thought about that deepthinker. There is always ONE fool in a party that messes it up for everyone else. This time it could have been a woman that got prickly or a man even that got prickly for whatever reason.

  • Only a liberal do nothing clown would find some obscure meaning to a name or symbol and twist it into something offensive.

    • for real... the last thing in my mind would have been to think of a middle aged woman who aggressively pursues younger men *rolls eyes* and even if I did, I wouldn't necessarily think that would be offensive to a woman that ACTUALLY is middle aged and aggressively pursues younger men. If that is what she wants to do, why would she be offended in the first place? Makes no sense.
