Vatican Uses Donations for the Poor to Plug Its Budget Deficit

• Apparently another use of "Peter’s Pence” was to fund Elton John’s biopic which for the first time features homosexual sexual acts in a mainstream movie. Good job, Pope Francis. Way to watch out for the poor:

• Growing up in South America, I remember visiting the enormous ornate churches with gilded columns rising over 100 feet. Just outside, abject poverty like nobody in this country could fathom.

  • I think a lot of us walk around with stories about the Catholic Church that make us want to puke. I became a Catholic as an adult because I wanted to marry a Catholic woman. I had to take classes. The priest was young and impressed me. He gave awesome homilies (sermons for Protestants) and seemed very talented and energetic. Plus he had adopted two foster children, boys, which I thought seemed very Christian. A single man with two boys living with him, but this was before the scandals really broke out so I thought only the best of him. Now, years later, having gone back to being Protestant, I wonder about those two boys. Did I let something horrible slide by right in front of my face? The classes took place right in his home! I was right there! All I was thinking about was passing the class so I could get married. I want to know, and I don't want to know. It seems like a strange arrangement now that all these scandals have come out. When I moved back to West Michigan I asked about him, and my Catholic friends said he had "moved on." The thought of what may have been happening right under my nose makes me want to puke.

• 90% for administration, 10% for actual charity, that's almost as bad as the Clinton Foundation.

  • Meanwhile, the Salvation Army, which Chick-fil-A has decided to abandon, has about a 15% administrative cost, pretty much the mathematical opposite of the fuckin' pope.

• The philosophy of the church is once money is given, it is our money, the needs of the Church always come first.

  • Sounds like the government in California.

• How much do they spend on the poop for his designer made clothes, shoes, and religious symbolism. food, wines, medical bills etc.?

  • All the while the Pope is lecturing the rest of the world on their sins...I would love to see him spontaneously combust one of these days.
