It’s a tragic, tragic story. It’s also tragically fictional.”

Yet more proof that damn near everything on the internet is a scam. I dont give a cent to any organization without checking to see how much the executive director or president makes and if over about $150K, they are off the list. I also check to see what percentage actually goes to the cause compared to what goes to fund raising, salaries, and perks. And absolutely NOTHING to any asshole that calls on the phone. Professional fund raisers keep 90+% of the money they raise. (Sheriff’s Association, Fire Fighters League, etc.) There are damn few who qualify and I am sure I still get screwed from time to time.
Remember the Combined Federal Campaign, where they made us donate to the United Way?
I hated that, they spend way more on fundraising and salaries than on actual charity. That's why the majority of my donations go to food banks, in the way of actual food.
And United way was supposed to stop the solicitation from a zillion different programs. But it's so difficult to be approved under unite d way, most s m all charities never get approved. So now we have United way plus zillion other programs. And not everyone researches who gets the donations.

There's a number of websites out there where you can say what you want, promote it, and get people to donate. The vast majority of accounts on these websites are truthful, and the money will be used for the cause that is specified. It took a liberal to screw it up for everyone.
I'm going to be opening a page, probably on gofundme.com, early next year to solicit funds for the expenses related to my charity trip across the country, raising funds and having fun with kids at children's hospitals and such, with my giant rocking unicorn. All money raised above the expenses will be donated to The Shriners. I hope this liberal hasn't caused enough damage to this type of website to keep me from being able to give a BIG check to The Shriners after the trip.
