The Saturn V was the only rocket with zero launch day failures. It remains the tallest, heaviest, and most powerful production rocket and still holds the record for heaviest payload launched.
My God, the USA was a great country.
I noticed President Nixon in one of the video clips watching a launch and the SOB later killed Project Apollo. Bastard!
We wouldn't be able to do that now with the corrupt SOBs we have in the WH. Can you imagine how much we would spend through Obama's campaign contributors as spacecraft contractors to come up with a PC Allahbama rocket that would fall over on every attempted launch? And after every failure would come another Obama fundraiser.
Number one, it would be powered by ethanol produced by one of Obama's butt buddies. Number two, Diane Feinstein's husband would get the contract to build it. Number three, it would cost about ten times more than seems possible. And number four, when it didn't work they would blame it on the Republican sequester (or Bush).
And with a stroke of Quagmire's pen we went from space pioneers to an Islamic outreach program.
Whoever gave you that thumbs-down is apparently unaware of NASA's absurdly PC Islamic outreach program...
...or a Muslim astronaut.
(How do they kneel and face Mecca in zero-G?)
Where is Mecca in orbit?
Where the moon is always in its crescent phase.
Well, if you were Oblivious, it would be in Uranus.
Apropos to absolutely nothing, thread with the most subscribers. 150th anniversary of a pivotal moment in American History coming up in a couple weeks or so (I didn't realize either). A Blue Moon in honor of the first to know.
And no cheating, or hovering over the link to read the url.

Gee. The only thinng I know of is the Gettysburg address, but I'm not sure if that's what you meant.
I saw what you did there! :)
I had the privilege of sitting in the spectator stands at Rocketdyne in the Santa Susanas to watch (and feel) the testing of a rocket. I'm thinking it was an Atlas, but can't recall for certain. It was unlike anything I have ever experienced before. The vibration went right through the stands and our bodies. The experience damn near had me in tears it was so awesome. Glory days, distant memories. /sigh
I got to see a NOAA Satellite lauched in Florida. You're right! THere is NOTHING like it! And that rumbling doen to your toes is about a mile or so away from where you sit.
I think it's evil that only 12 men got to go to the moon. What made THEM so special? What about the rest of us? If we have the technology to do so, I say we make it so EVERYONE can go there!
So I've developed the "Affordable Travel Act." It forces every travel agency to make sure that everyone in the country gets the same travel opportunities that Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and all their pals got.
Travel agencies, airlines and all other modes of transportation will be required by law to provide trips to the moon for every American.
I know what you're thinking! You think this will make travel more expensive! No! Wrong! It will make your travel expenses 3,000% cheaper, so your boss will be able to give you a raise!
Oh, and be advised: if you DON'T sign up for a vacation to the moon, you will be fined on your taxes.
Final note: If you don't like my idea, then you're a racist.
What if we have pre-existing motion sickness? It's not fair that people who puke in space can't go into space too. A nation as wealthy as ours should be able to move everybody to the moon, even the ones who will puke all the way there.
Even the ones that don't want to go.
ESPECIALLY if they don't want to go.
BUT, we need to remember that as part of the Affordable Travel Act, we all must pay for travel expenses for pregnant women, which will be much more expensive because of special precautions needed to protect the baby, because they don't want to have any miscarriages before they can get to the moon for their lunar abortions, which are guaranteed by the cACA.
Everyone gets to go but Congress?
Yeah! I'll personally sponsor the mad woman next door!
"I know what you’re thinking! You think this will make travel more expensive! No! Wrong! It will make your travel expenses 3,000% cheaper, so your boss will be able to give you a raise!"
YOU LIE!
What you mean is "You lie, BOY!" I heard it! I heard the inaudible "BOY" on there!
This entire thing is hilarious
No, that was Obliviousidiot on another thread saying "my boy".
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
I LOVE your idea!!
The days of "ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country."
Up is down. These days JFK would be beyond a blue dog Dem and fit right in with our current crop of fiscal conservative social lib "big tent" repubs. And our recent standard-bearer McCain (Rino, AZ) is a solid Democrat.
JFK was a liberal. Today's Democrat "leaders" are leftist, statist, communist bastards.
I've been saying this for years, compared to today's Democrat party, Kennedy was a right wing nutjob.
Yep, those fucking imbeciles on the left like to flap their pie traps about "Hurrrp Durrp, Reagan couldn't get elected by today's Republicans." The truth is, JFK would be a Republican nowadays.
He'd be a lot better Republican than half of the Republicans in Congress. I'm not going to mention John McCain's name, but you know who I'm talking about.
Tactful of you not to mention John McCain's name, because John McCain is certainly one example that comes to mind when we're thinking of John McCain-like RINOs.
Progressive indoctrination has a stranglehold on American politics.
It will take a strong opposition to free us. A strong TEA party type of opposition. That's why progressives hate and so furiously oppose them.
Amazing when you think of it!
It was a good run.
It was... too bad that I didn't get to enjoy it.
