However, ever since she quit as a vice-chair of the DNC so she could stump for Bernie, I have been losing ALL respect for her. She has turned into a socialist. This article from the Hawaii Free Press just cements that opinion of her. Sad. She had a real bright future, I guess she just couldn't deny feeling the BERN. She has become a disgrace to her Army Reserve uniform.
Her quick politicization of the issue, blaming Trump, and the employee being reassigned, tells me this was a planned event used to position her and I think she may have a secret PAC. I think it will backfire and she is being willingly used like the Puerto Rican lady was.

FDR was KIND OF neutral on WWII, yet the Japanese still attacked Hawaii and, I have come to know, other parts of NW USA. He didn't want to get TOO OPENLY involved with the war. Still attacked. You can't predict how things are going to go for sure and definitely the best way to handle the madness of the world is to: Prepare, have a plan, retaliate. Consult with Israel. They deal with this every day. Not an awesome situation to deal with, but it is something that can be dealt with. With that said, Rocket Fat Man ain't gonna do crap unless he is truly suicidal.
The history books give FDR too much leniency concerning Pearl Harbor. Look up the China Marines, not the wikipedia version. We had them in China to protect US interests before Japan officially attacked. Flying Tigers were formed up right before the attack. The final straw for Japan was when we shut off the aviation fuel and oil supply to Japan. Plus steel, copper and other metals.
I think he tried to keep us out of it, but the policies he implemented ultimately left Japan with no choice but to attack us to obtain needed materials to continue their expansion in Asia. I don't believe that Japan ever had any intention of taking US mainland soil, but merely wanted supplies that we had cut off.
You need to read a real history book M. An old friend, who died several years ago when he was 96, served in China in 1939. He was wounded several times, damn near died, and had the medals, a few old pictures and the scars to prove it. He told me some horror stories about how Japan treated prisoners, the local people, anyone and everyone who tried to resist them. Stories that gobsmacked me, a shallow water sailor who saw some pretty bad shit when I was in Cambodia and Laos myself. Damn, I miss that old man! One of the finest Americans I have ever met.
Anyway, you can bet your ass the Japs would have tried to take part of America if they could keep all the South Pacific. With the Flipeenos islands and Hawaii under their control it would be a short hop to our south and west coast cities.

I'd always felt they had no intention of attacking US mainland soil, at least not in the short term. They seemed content in taking Asia and was more than enough to keep them busy for quite some time. I guess in the long run FDR's policies forced their hand and ultimately sped up their timeline, which led to their demise.
Post WW2, if we hadn't occupied Japan, I would imagine China would have paid them back. In fact, we're the reason the rest of Asia hasn't paid Japan back for the 30's and 40's.
