When his Kids Received Participation Trophies, this NFL Star Went on an Epic Rant

• I don't have a problem with participation trophies, or ribbons for the very young. But children need to learn to work for what they want, and to be gracious in loss, as well as in winning. It part of growing up in a civikized society.

• I heard Debbie Washerhands Much called this guy over the weekend and asked if she could have the trophies if she just showed up at his house....

• Nowhere in the article does it mention which sport the kids were playing, but I bet it was soccer.

• What Harrison did was teach his kids that there are no 'participation" trophies in the real world.

  • Yep. It's good to know that there are still a few parents in this country who try to teach their kids there are no free rides in life.

  • Kids who get participation trophies = tomorrow's welfare recipients.

• He should also try to find out why his kids are so lame at sports that they could only get a participation trophy. If he's an NFL star, his kids should have inherited some of his talent.

  • You can't really assume his kids have no talent based on this. The touchy-feely morons who run the school probably only give out participation trophies so they won't hurt anyone's feelings. No one good is ever recognized.

    As an aside: When I was in school someone getting a trophy when I didn't only made me more competitive. If they had done this when I was in school everyone (except the morons) would have recognized it as bullshit and the losers still would have been harassed, probably more.
