Somewhere Congressman Buffett is spinning in his grave from the ignorance spouting out of Warren.
Buffett became a democrat because his father was a republican. I suppose that in not abnormal behavior, rebelling against your parents. What is more surprising is that he remains a democrat.
Originally, he did not like the segregated policies of the country club republicans his father was a member of (such as not welcoming Jews and black people into their country clubs). Now whether this was true and if so, widespread, or was it merely little Warren's perception is another story. But that is what Buffett said in one of his books. Obvioulsy, little Warren must not have been aware of the democrats' open-arms-policies in the south.
So the original intentions may have been good. But let's remember that this was the party of Scoop Jackson, Pat Moynihan, and Hubert Humphrey - liberal, yes, but not yet endorsing outright degradation of society and the de facto elimination of the Bill of Rights in particular, and the Constitution in general.
That he is still a democrat is a testimony to either just how stupid one can be in one area of life while being a genius in another, or the incredible success incrementalism can have.
He's a Democrat, and supports Democrats, because they're easier to buy.
The old man couldn't know that when his son made it big, he would become guilt ridden and succumb to the idiocy of liberalism.
I wish he were here to put little lord Warren over his knee or take him out back of the woodshed!
