  • From the 24 year incumbent (nah, no institutionalism there, could never cause problems) loser

""I don't think it's good," he said. "I don't think it's good for both democracy and the whole concept of fair play."

Besides lmao, can't believe he got those phrases out with a straight face, and without needing the Heimlich maneuver.

  • I'm not conflicted at all! This is one of the best stories all year. Finally, someone who's got some game!! I'd endorse him! This guy is no idiot, he clearly see's through the bull. AND, after watching the last six years, I believe this guy may have more common sense and ability to do the job than most. We need more people like this working their way in to level out the system. I just hope he has some support behind him now that he has made his way in.

    • I'm with ya there smirk. Not the least bit conflicted.
However, even if he does manage to make life better for the folks in Houston, or even if he walks on water, it won't make a damn bit of difference....he is just the wrong damn color.

  • Like Kimmy, I'm conflicted. Thought about it all night and finally decided, "Hey, if you can trick racists, that might be okay with God." Turn the story around and make it a light-skinned black man who fools Alabama KKK voters in the 1950s, gets elected, and then announces, "Guess what, fools: I'm black." We'd cheer that guy all day long, right? He'd be a celebrity invited on the talk shows and he'd end up being a professor somewhere when his political career was over. What's the difference?

Basically what we're talking about is a guy who used the voters evil biases against them. It's a good lesson for Houston, a city which definitely has some issues.

    • That is an interesting way to see it. The KKK wouldn't appreciate being pegged as idiots in that way so that man would be in great danger and his family and community. So I suppose that would be the main difference, that the man would have to be extremely brave considering that.

However I can see your point. Since I don't know much about this guy then we will have to wait and see what are his intentions what he does and what he wants to do with the position he has.

    • LOL, that reminds me of the Richard Pryor movie where he's blind, his wife says something like "You can't change being blind any more than you can change being black." And he jumps up, "I'm black!??! Nobody ever told me that! Oh my God, what are they going to say at the country club?!?"

(Gene Wilder was his budy who was deaf, can't remember the movie)

  • Too funny, all he had to do was throw in some bullshit about everything being free and he would have won in a landslide.

  • I wonder if I could get a better job by going on line and pretending I'm black and then just not showing up for the interview by claiming it's racist...wonder if they'd hire me?

  • Nice- but his point will likely be lost as Conservatism takes another media abetted and unjust hit by being depicted as being unable to legitimately win an election. For the point he THINKS he made he effectively armed those who would characterize Conservatives as election cheats. Being an unabashed deceit artist opens more up to negative publicity than just him. His could be the mother of all Pyrrhic victories as the concept stands to lose far more than he thinks he won.

    • I agree with you Stinkfoot. Granted his position may not be all of that, but even if it is not fair, once a Conservative is not pristine and since the media does own the media it is a danger all in all.

  • After years of dems lying and telling half truths to low information voters, looks like a conservative gave them a taste of their own medicine. Not surprised they're butt hurt about it.

    • Unfortunately it is the liberals who control the narrative this gets reported in. People will tend to think how they are told they think.

  • I feel conflicted.

Winning at all cost or using underhanded methods is how Obama got elected.

However with that said he discovered an ugly truth that Liberals vote by skin color and not by content of character.

My hope is that he does a good job and can prove that Conservatives can improve situations if allowed to make the changes necessary and for that they need to be in positions where they can make the changes. However, if he does a bad job then he will hurt the cause.

I guess we will have to wait and see, just not sure how to feel about this all in all.

    • To be fair, he never actually claimed to be something he wasn't, he just floated a few suggestions and associations and let the audience draw conclusions. Misleading? Yes. Dishonest? I don't think so. No more than a guy named Bernie Schwartz* calling himself Tony Curtis or Joseph Levitch going as Jerry Lewis.

*Which is of course German/Yiddish for "black"!

      • Fine he misled... Just like Obama ... is that a person to emulate?

Okay fine he is not all of that he may not effect any change and it is what it is.

          • I agree. We agree on that. It shouldn't have mattered that he was white. He knew though that it did. Again this all will be something that will be figured out once we see what he does.

          • If he does a good job and was effective perhaps even if PERHAPS underhanded it may have been worth it to do what he did. His actions I think has to be judged by his fruits. I think that we have seen enough of Obama's fruits to know that his methodologies were all concerted/created for evil purposes. This guy "seems" shady so we will have to wait and see.

    • If you TD have the balls to express why. Unless you are just another lame, pathetic and brain dead troll. If you don't have the intelligence to debate you are abusing the TU/TD system in my opinion.

      • Kimmy, he finally revealed himself the other day. He's been lurking for a while, and came out of his hole long enough to kiss the troll's ass, and went back into hiding.

        • Yeah that troll is an idiot. However I have a sneaking suspicion it may not be a troll. In any case...

    • Great point about doing a good job. If the article is to be believed he doesn't seem interested in the job just proving a point by exposing the biases of the constituency.

      • If indeed he just wanted to make a point then he is a danger to us in Houston and to the conservative movement if he really deems himself a conservative. So I hope that he does want to do a good job as good as he can and it wasn't just a game to him.
