  • Here's the really important thing, everybody: this email dump leaves out the first two days after the attack. As usual with this administration, they pretend to open up while staying closed and count on the media to ignore the discrepancy. The first two days would be when the Benghazi spinning started and the White House would be controlling the story. What we're seeing here is the final stages of the wrap-up.

    • No big deal, the first two days don't count. Because as with
      everything, the first the President was aware of the situation was when "you guys in the press" brought it to his attention. \sarc

  • There's a great (ironic as hell) quote from Hillary Rodham from when she was working on the Nixon impeachment, looking off and on when I get a chance. There's also a hilarious pic (70s) I remember seeing with it a long time ago, think that's been scrubbed too. May have to hit the Way Back Machine for that one.

  • HMMM, this is interesting. The last sentence of the first paragraph, which is crossed out:

    "On 10 September the Agency notified Embassy Cairo of social media reports calling for a demonstration and encouraging jihadists to break into the Embassy."

    REALLY? I thought this was a spontaneous demonstration that you had no previous knowlege of, and that it was all done by unorganized demonstrators!
    If that were the case, how did you know THE DAY BEFORE THE ATTACK about this? Someone is a liar!

    • Something I give the same credence as rumor but I've heard that the administration was arranging for the ambassador who was ultimately killed to be kidnapped so they could "negotiate" a switch for the blind sheik who is serving time in a US prison.

      The more I learn about Obama the more believable I see him as being willing to use his own people as tools to appease our enemies. Whether by design or by accident he is an enemy of the state and a very dangerous person.

      • This theory actually has some teeth. The deeper theory is that this was a multi-tiered conspiracy (a win-win, if you will). No only does Obama either pay back Morsi for something - likely campaign contributions (or build up some future credits with Morsi) by releasing the BS, but he also would get to pull an October Surprise (maybe a bit early, but Sept 11 is close enough), by very publicly showing off his superb presidential negotiating skills when he single-handedly arranged to get Amb. Stevens home - safe and sound, and kissing the ground.

        Stevens didn't know it was a setup. He thought he was getting weapons back from the Libyans. He knew that it was a covert operation of course, but he had no clue that HE was the target. Which is why the lack of security didn't freak him out at first. He was told he could "trust" the people who were delivering the weapons.

        Had it worked as planned, Stevens would have come home none the worse-for-wear, Obama's staff would have made sure that Obama was portrayed as the greatest hero and statesman EVER and Morsi would have gotten his BS back. What could POSSIBLY go wrong? Besides blonde-haired-blue-eye-gay-westerner-hating, insane extremist terrorists being involved?

        • And the weapons would have joined all the others we've been shipping to the 'freedom fighters' [future terrorists] in Syria.

  • Anyone remember when every major news outlet sent reporters to Alaska to wait in line for boxes of Sarah Palin's emails? No scandal, just the hope that she said something dumb.

    Do those same outlets give a flaming f*ck about these emails?
