communism's ideologies and precepts have failed in every part of the world that it has been implemented. it has killed hundreds of millions of people in the name of equality, and the greater good. communism is still a threat to the world, and should not be tolerated! communism is an ugly nasty thing! well, whoopi is a nasty,ugly thing, and can lead to misery,but sister act nearly killed me so maybe whoopi can cause death.

Whoopie really likes standing in line for hours to receive her ration of state produced toilet paper, that's the only explanation I could come up with.

In a sense, she has a good point. One could say that "on paper" she makes some sense.
I have a plan for relieving all that traffic congestion at the Hudson River Crossings into NYC - we just drive our cars across the river on the surface of the water. See, that makes perfect sense "on paper" too. Well, except for that gravity and surface tension thing. But otherwise, it's a great plan!
It's one thing to have some minor details go awry in the process of taking theory into practice. But the problem with communism is not a minor detail. It's not a little kink that you can go back to the drawing board and iron out.
The problem with communism is that it goes against human nature. It works for ants. It does not work for people. Which necessarily means that in order to institute the system, some force must be applied. Which, of course is met with some resistance, since - hello? - it violates human nature. Which then means some more force must be applied. Which is met with more resistance. Which then elicits more force. Which is then met with either apathy (note the extraordinarily high level of productivity in any communist country), or more resistance, or people continuing to live as normal humans in the underground economy. Which necessitates MORE force.
Ultimately, every attempt to build a communist system will degenerate into an oppressive state. As in every time. Well, unless you do it with ants.
But yes, on paper, it works. And on paper, we have no energy problems because we can just stuff some garbage into our cold-fusion home reactors.
Actually it doesn't even really work for ants. Workers do all the work and raise the drones, who sit around and do nothing, and EVERYONE takes care of the queen. In true communism, there are no leaders, no individual more important than anyone else. That is why it doesn't work, and why no country on earth has ever really tried it. Communist regimes don't want equality for everyone-they just want to be theoones in charge for a change.

There really are two communisms - one is the theory that as you said, never existed anywhere. Then there is what communism becomes when someone actually tries it in the real world.
So, since the former doesn't really exist and never will, I suppose that making that analogy (ants) was wrong on my part. It would be as pointless a statement as Whoopi saying it works on paper ("but other than that, Mrs Lincoln, it really was a perfect evening at the theater").
But as for communism in practice,

How much do you want to bet that she has never read a word of Marx or even knows what communism is? I just don't see her surrendering her property to the state voluntarily or having her house annexed so that five families can move in with her.
What indication has she ever displayed that would lead one to believe she can even read?
