Why Truman can’t save Obama

Obama fancies 2012 being a rerun of Truman’s 1948 comeback but there are important differnces: for instance, Truman didn’t force a health care plan the public hated down their throats. Sure, Obama may have fancied himself as Lincoln, FDR, Reagan and now Truman, but the reality on the ground keeps pointing to Carter. As Yogi Berra might say, it could be deja-lose all over again.

It seems to be a largely-forgotten point, but Truman also tried to push through a "National Health Care" system:
