WWII fighter pilot who flew THROUGH the Eiffel Tower to take down a German plane dies in Virginia aged 92. Here’s a true American hero, which is why you won’t see this in the MSM and have to go to a British news organization to find out about him. This guy had some big cojones. We salute you sir and may you RIP.

And, from the Government Attacks On WWII Veterans files:
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/01/03/88-year-old-wwii-vet-who-cant-afford-manditory-repairs-to-his-business-gets-penalty-that-may-make-your-blood-boil/
Seems to me there should be aline of people coming in to fix this problem. Free, or maybe just the cost of materials. And more fines? If he Can' t afford the repairs, he can't pay the fines. Totally wrong.
...meanwhile violent offenders are getting early release on the premise that the liberals are somehow interested in saving money.
And, from the NO Good Deed Goes Unpunished files:

I smell the stench of an oppressive government, the same government that has the IRS doing it's dirty work to stifle the Tea Party. SICKENING!
OK, I just finished watching Memphis Belle on the Military Channel.
What a hell of a movie.
Makes you wonder what the hell happened to Hollyweird between then and now.
The government used to hire them to do propaganda films. After McCarthy, they didn't much like the government.
Liberals.
Seriously though, why are almost all of my heroes frail old men who don't ask for fame and glory, even though they deserve it? RIP William Overstreet Jr., you were one of humanity's greatest.
Because they didn't look for glory or fame, they just wanted to make the world safe for everyone.
This is ( sadly ) something our our over-coddled, self absorbed, obnoxiously spoiled brat-ass generation will never know about or understand. ( exempting our military ) To give 125% of yourself, to take risks for anything other then yourself, to be the GREATEST for your country.
Why would they do something like that when they can emulate Obama instead?
UGH
Well, well, well....it actually made the news on WCBS TV, New York....
Everyday we loose more of the greatest generation, the sad part is there will soon be no one to tell what really happened and the distorted view of history rewritten by the socialists will be taught in the future. This guy was cool beyond cool...May he rest in peace that he so richly earned. And Thank God for his service and for men like him.
Amazing story -- and not to be a cynic or downer or anything -- I couldn't help but notice the story did mention this but kind of glossed it over -- when he flew under the Eiffel Tower, he was following the German who did it FIRST!
No shortage of raw talent and courage on the German side. Hitler wasted them on much evil and ruin
The German fighter pilots were very good aviators. Their biggest problem was that there weren't enough of them and they became harder to replace. Same applied to the U Boat and armor officers and crews.
Hitler wasted a generation of courageous young men from lots of countries.
From what I'm reading in an exhaustive history of the air war, the reason so many of the German pilots got so good is that they didn't rotate them out after a certain number of missions. Their training was nowhere near as good as our guys, so many of them didn't last long. If they lasted long enough to learn to fly, they just kept on flying. The Germans just stayed until they died, or were severely injured.
That's why there were numerous German pilots with over 100 confirmed kills, while the record for American pilots was 28.
Nerves of steel.
RIP
Hey Barb. Happy New Year!
Another American hero from when this country still had some balls, passes away. Sadly, we shall never see the likes of them again.
Progressive
We have many brave men and women, sadly we have political commanders who won't let them do what they've trained to do.
I don't know about that....
Yes, the general/flag ranks are being forced to be political, but, IMHO, today's "groundpounders", "grunts", "squids", "swabbies", NCOs, etc. are as good as they always were, if not better.
Agreed and don't forget the greatest generation lived under a president who was despised by conservatives as much as the current WH occupant is.
SEALS, Para Rescue, Recon/Airborne Rangers, etc.
I see a gutless 'objector' disagreed ... SCREW YOU COWARD!
Doesn't bother me, it just tells me that I'm pissing off a libtard.
