Yeah. That. Excellent turn of phrase. Conveys the true sense of urgency that he felt about a child being raped by one of his employees. A normal human would have wanted to distance himself as far as possible from it by locking the SOB up.
However, rules are different for the wearers of the whale pants. Child molestation? No big deal, as long as the Nittany NAMBLArs are winning. Either that, or the rot went so deep even then that to pursue it meant that the whole house of cards would come tumbling down. My guess is that this wasn't the first time that he'd heard of it, or that it was even the only person he knew about that was raping children. Few other motivations fit his actions.
I live 25 minutes from Penn State and it is hard to believe what some of these "fans" are saying to defend Joe Paterno. The best that I can relate it to you is that it is very similar to talking / arguing with a full-blown liberal. I guess the facts just don't matter to them.

I HATE Jerry Sandusky and all his enablers at Penn State including Joe Paterno. The students who rioted in support of Paterno are also ignorant savages. We should have zero tolerance for pedophiles who rob little children of their innocence and scar them for life. Joe Paterno is a selfish bastard who wanted to protect and keep his glory at the expense of innocent boys. Call a spade a spade, Paterno knew that if he reported the allegations to the police and DA, Penn State would be in trouble. He chose to protect the Penn State sports program rather than fight pedohilia and stand up for the victims whom Sandusky raped for many years. Talk about an absolute lack of humanity. The entire culture at that college has to go. They need to eliminate their entire football program, permanently. They (fans, coaches, and all) clearly have no moral compass whatsoever. It makes me want to puke every time I think about it.

How much do you wanna bet there are scores of other victims that haven't come forward yet or that never will? I find it hard to believe there were only 8 victims especially with all the enablers Sandusky had. Penn State's entire atletic program should be disbanded and anyone having anything to do with covering up Sandusky's crimes should be locked away for life.

Nah. In the head. They are absolute recidivists. You can never "cure" a pedophile, and if given the opportunity they will nearly always reoffend. The ones that stay out of trouble try to stay away from triggering situations, but children are everywhere. Do you want someone looking at your child or grandchild with those thoughts in their heads? I'll have to agree with you. They need the round to the head, and their enablers and apologists and cover up artists need the life terms *after* a severe beating. I cannot imagine seeing a child getting molested and not doing anything. It takes a special variety of asshole to ignore this kind of horror.
It is worth a hell of a lot more than a job to put a stop to this -- and I'm pretty sure that if we as a society go easy on burglars that turn molesters in, that the guy that had turned him in would not be unemployed for long.

Other than suicide, Sandusky has his future pretty well planned. He's facing 40 charges for a maximum of 367 years behind bars. This is why I think the death penalty should also apply to pedophiles too. This is not a rehabilitative crime. This animal ruined young men's lives and the staff let him have a free ride. They should shut down PSU's football program for at least 5 years. Then the idiot students that wanted to riot because of these firings as if "to hell with the victims" can go watch other sports IN HELL.
San Antonio is also investigating because one of the victims was allegedly attacked here at the Alamo Bowl. It is reported that he included the boy in his "family group" then threatened to send him home when he refused Sandusky's disgusting advances. He should rot in hell.
In the Nebraska Franklin S&L child-sex-ring case, they were getting their human toys from Boys' Town. I'm not at all shocked by this guy's "charity" involvement.
The being involved with children's organizations or activities is how the pedos get close to the kids they want to bugger. It's not a new tactic by any means.
Troubled kids are their easiest targets.
