• One thing I thought for sure would be on this list was the book " Schemes of my father(?) and how I hate America " , by Barry Sotero

• This list is six years old, it seems young Tamerlane was traveling the jihadist road for quite some time before he and his kid brother decided to kill Americans in the name of Chechan independence. They probably believe the only good infidel is a dead infidel, doesn't matter if the dead infidel is a Russian or an eight year old American boy.

• A serious discussion: After a few times of him collecting such a list of material should Amazon had alerted someone?

  • Similarly, should the Anarchist's Cookbook be prevented from being published? How about survivalist books because of some wack jobs following them?
    You can't prevent everything.

    • Overall I do believe in freedom of speech and thought. If I want to learn about dictators I may have a list of books about them and so on. If I get a knock on my door that Amazon told them I seem to be planning world domination that would piss me off. However obviously in situations like these we have to look at the totality of everything...

      MAYBE (I think perhaps definitely not) Amazon shouldn't be "snitching", but IF the FBI had perhaps done their job, they may have researched this list and the other discussion question then emerges: In order to make sure that a person is guilty or not guilty of planning something after a government or a group alerts the FBI that the person may have ties to terrorism should the private business in this case Amazon go ahead and co-operate without alerting the buyer?

  • Then why sell them? The ID faking is illegal, the others are just troubling. I'm surprised Amazon carry's them when you consider places like google, e-bay and paypal won't carry gun related merchandise in their shopping, sale, or payment functions respectfully.

    If he had a book "How to keep you wife in line- which wood switch hurts the most with the least marks", maybe the FBI would have booted his ass after the Russians outed him...

    • I believe in the totality of everything as I stated above. Perhaps Amazon shouldn't take it upon themselves to tell anyone, but if the FBI had done its job the question is should Amazon then cooperate?

      As for why carry it in the first place? That is a very interesting question. As a private entity they can carry whatever they like and many of these things (booklets) are from individual sellers and Amazon may not do anything about it until someone actually complains. Amazon could limit things that I like just as easily if they limit or ban these things. It is a tricky issue.

      • Amazon's a greedy corporation, as long as they are making money off the sales of these items, they don't care what they're selling. A rare occurrence where Corporate Greed actually helps free speech.
