He TOLD us he could, he was absolutely untouchable by COngress for2 years and he himself said if he didn't get this done in 4 years, it would be a one term Presidency. I'm just agreeing with him.

I remember waiting in a line for gas with my Dad when Carter was President. What stonewalling opposition did Obama have in his first two years? Your last sentence is stupid and nonsensical.

No, I'm calling him misquoted. He didn't say he'd have the nation swimming in prosperity within 3 years, as you seem to think. I do think he was overconfident in his statement, but that's nothing unusual for politicians. Remember how Rumsfeld confidently predicted that the Iraq war would be over in weeks? Remember Bush's "mission accomplished" stunt related to major combat operations in Iraq? And remember how Republicans claimed that the Bush tax cuts would stimulate the economy?
The thing is, nationwide and international recessions are complex problems. There is seldom a quick or simple fix, let alone a magic fix that doesn't inconvenience anyone

Reagan didn't inherit anything like the mess Obama inherited.
Reagan also raised both taxes and the deficit.
Boehner and several other Republicans have made it clear that their number one priority is to stonewall Obama. Odd, huh? I always thought that the number one priority of Congressional representatives was to serve the country. ;)
The gas shortage in '73 was indeed inconvenient, but it's just silly to try to compare it to the recession we're dealing with now. Did you think this recession was all and only about expensive gas? If so, you're very lucky....and obviously very sheltered.

Sometimes Olivia, when you've made a statement that's been directly refuted by evidence you just have to admit defeat. It's never too late to gain just a little bit of humility. As for the rest of your diversionary quote I'm not going to follow you and Bush and Rumsfeld on a magical mystery tour to Iraq and the 73 gas shortage. Take the L on this one and move on.
Maybe if Obama hadn't been so smug in predicting that he would have this mess fixed in 2 years, we would give him some slack. However, instead of fixing anything, he has driven us deeper into the throes of economic despair, all the while telling us how much better he was making things.
If there was any confidence that he would improve things, the economy would start chugging along toward recovery, but spending like a loaded up crack whore, doesn't give any of us a warm fuzzy feeling!
It shut its doors last time in 1979 - the last time a Democrat ran wild - and ran our country into the ground.
Well that's a shame, and I'm sure Sock Puppet bears some measure of fault, but it does say it's been operated "off and on" for however many times that might mean. And let's do note he opened it up under Reagan, yay! I'm not sure what " losses of food after Tropical Storm Irene " might mean either.
Bottom line - yeah it's unfortunate that anyone has to give up his business for whatever reason, but he has a good long run of it. It's not like it's been in continuous operation for 300 years, and it's not like the building is being torn down. The town isn;t losing a 300 year old landmark, it's losing a a20 year old business. I won't say "much ado over nothing," but let's not blow this out of proportion.
