Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Great chart. While I won't condemn or praise any president for these numbers, the attitude trends are amazingly similar for periods of economic prosperity and recession. That said, a president can and does set the overall tone. Carter and Obama are similar as are Reagan and Clinton. The first two were/are dark and dreary personalities the second pair were upbeat.
