  • A perfect expose' of what happens when liberals and dead beats are left in charge. From the pictures, one could tell at some point the buildings were well maintained and had much in them. Now, they look like a battle has been fought in them.

    Thus you have it. The battle between liberalism and conservatism. Liberalism takes from others and tries to give to those who have no vested interest in what they just received, they will destroy it every time. Conservatism promotes self reliance, self accountability and success. It will help those who need it and wishes for all to succeed by their works and efforts.

  • I've seen these before, not sure if it was linked from here or somewhere else. Anyway though, these look like screenshots from one of my favorite computer games, Half Life 2, which takes place mostly in a dystopic near-future where Earth is occupied by an enemy from another dimension called the Combine, and much of the action takes place in "City 17," a ruined city otherwise unidentified and evidently located in what used to be Russia.

    So there's a lot of devastation and abandoned, ruined buildings, some of which shelter the Resistance (of which your character is virtually the leader). And yeah, a LOT of it looks like Detroit! Come to think of it, I think the last time I saw these pics someone else had already said something about Ciy 17!

    I'll see if I can get a little gallery up somewhere for comparison.

  • I spent a week in Detroit this past January. The decline since I left that area in 1991 was nothing less than shocking. There was a burned out building, that undoubtedly was once beautiful. It had written across the top in 25 foot letters. "Zombieland". The effort to paint that had to be great but the result is perfect since it captures present-day Detroit perfectly.

  • It’s mind-numbing that they create a massive train wreck but fail to see they are the cause of it, they should openly confess to a lack of conscience…..the alternative would be complete, undeniable stupidity.

    • They likely don't see it as a train wreck- it's an opportunity for them to further their own agenda in response to a crisis that they knowingly created. You characterize the progressive politicians as the clueless ones but I respectfully submit that it's the damned people themselves, who elected democratic mayor after major; who fell in line with the progressive propaganda; who supported Obama in 2012... who keep falling for whatever sales pitch and contrives lip service to compassion and intent to help dig them out and who willfully lack historical hindsight to see past the likely message that somehow, despite not being in power that it's the Republicans who are responsible for the malaise.

      Politicians are vultures who seem to feed off the carcass of desperation and the wreckage shown in the photos took many decades to unfold.... a long process that had its start when there was more money flying about than anyone knew what to do with... it strikes me that Detroit is in a sense a victim of its own success- too heavily invested in an automotive industry that began a slow decline after an unimaginable post-war boom.

      I've read a bit about car maker history and the number of makes that went out of business in the 50s and 60s- during the supposed heyday of American car manufacturing is pretty remarkable considering the amount of money being thrown around. History treats that post war boom as something special but you might get another take from those who had worked for the likes of Hudson, Packard, Nash, Studebaker, Kaiser, Crosley, Willys, plus many more much smaller makes.

      I see it less as creating an enormous train wreck and more of slowly turning up the heat- purposefully to prevent the population of frogs from realizing that they are being boiled- while succeeding political comers promise a couple ice cubes without actually turning the heat down.

    • One liberal commentator, I can't remember which, made the case that Detroit's failure is the fault of Republicans. Of course. Liberals never accept blame. They can't: once they started accepting responsibility the floodgates would be opened and the full weight of their crimes against humanity would crush them.

      • In reality, it is the Republicans fault, because they never managed to make the case for their election, so they could stop this mess.
        This would all have come about much sooner if Carter had gotten a second term.

        I agree JP, since the Republicans didn't drink all the koolaid and totally accept socialism/communism it was a destined to fail... at least in liberal thought. They fail to recognize the subtle fact that Government is a zero-sum game and that for any winner there is an equal loser. If Government could create wealth everyone would be swimming from Florida to Cuba

  • That's real hope and change......Demotards doing their best to ruin anything and everything they touch.....Years of liberal leadership..that's just where President Lady pants wants the rest of the country to go so we suffer for our supposed sins...This is beyond criminal.

    Exactly. And what good are manipulative politicians loudly declaiming everyone's RIGHT to these things in the absence of someone able and willing to provide them? Detroiters have a RIGHT to healthcare? Good, go force someone to be a doctor and give it to them. Good luck with that.
