I love IHTM.com, and I also love my all-electric Leaf. I agree that the landlord has the right to grant or deny the use of the plug, but with the tenant offering to pay, the landlord is being stupid, a right he has to be.
How is the landlord going to assess how much power that vehicle is using? What happens if there is a power surge and the vehicle is damaged? What happens if some goombah is skipping through the garage and stumbles over the power cord? Or is there is a fire?
It's great that you love your car. I looked into hybrids when I bought my last car (to save MONEY, not the environment). There is nothing wrong with that.

So, Dude lets his enviro-nazi neighbors shame him into buying this car, and HE doesn't think it through (oh - how will I charge the battery? I live in an apartment!) And now he wants everyone ELSE to accommodate him? Why doesn't he go park at the enviro-nazi's house and charge his car there? Oh, right - because it costs so much, and is such a PITA that they don't really want to do it either.
