  • Obama, by all accounts, was a habitual drug user in high school. He tried cocaine, he admits in Dreams From My Father; he “tried drugs enthusiastically.” The Chicago Tribune reported back in 2007 that Obama thanked the “Choom Gang” in his high school yearbook; “chooming” was Hawaiian slang for smoking pot. The Honolulu Advertiser reported that Obama’s senior portrait “prominently displayed … A package of ‘Zig-Zag’ rolling papers and a matchbook.” One of Obama’s close friends was arrested for drug possession during high school.
    In his memoir, Obama talked about routinely getting high. “Junkie. Pothead,” he wrote. “That’s where I’d been headed: the final, fatal role of the young would-be black man.” But, according to Obama, he only got high because he was contemplating deep matters: drugs could “push questions of who I was out of my mind.”

  • Really lads, this is a put-on. Y'all need to look at it close. Even though much of the material accurately recites Dear Leader's own account of his heavy narcotic usage in "Dreams of His Father," the "dealer asking for his bong back" are clearly tongue in cheek . . . or spoon in nose . . . or something.

    Of course it is the =believability= of the story which is so intriguing.

      P.S. This bong story is about as "believable" as a Mad magazine satire. But I've noticed that you guys will swallow any fairy tale, no matter how ridiculous, if the right wing media is peddling it. ;>)

      Come on, Flash-----do you honestly think a drug abuser would be able to maintain the kind of schedule and goldfish-bowl life that's required of a president? Do you really think, if Obama did drugs, he'd be able to maintain that famous cool for long, especially in the face of some of the crap the far right has slung at him? And, finally, do you think ANY political party is going to risk their funding, their credibility and their reputation on a presidential candidate who can't stay away from street drugs? ;>)

          Why would you think that, Flash? I work hard at my job, but it's never occcurred to me to depend on drugs to "help out." In fact, mood altering drugs are pretty counterproductive for people who are under pressure. I've worked with cocaine abusers (as a CD nurse), and they tend to be impulsive and short tempered, as well as poorly disciplined. You really have no clue about such drugs, do you?

          My boy, YOU'RE the one who's lying here. Or maybe you're just parroting Rush again. Obama admitted to having experimented with drugs in his youth. Big deal. So did many, many other people his age. No intelligent or honest person would automatically conclude from that that he has a drug problem as an adult. Except, of course, those who depend on the likes of Rush Limbaugh to tell them how they feel, and why.

      Come on, you ninnies. This totally unsubstantiated story sounds like something out of the old Weekly World News (of "Bat Boy" and "12 U.S. Senators Are Space Aliens!" fame). No real evidence of any kind is provided; the details are ludicrous; and there are no reputable sources (news periodicals, INCLUDING the Chicago Tribune which was cited here) corroborating it. What there ARE are a boatload of loony right wing blogs that posted the same story, verbatim, exactly three days ago.

      If the hint that it claims to be "true as far as YOU know it" (emphasis mine) didn't tip you off that it's a fake, surely the goofy name of Obama's alleged old buddy, "Ernie Pipebladder," should have.

      I swear----I've never seen such a gullible bunch in my life. As long as we're on the subject of old classmates, ANY of my old classmates back in fifth grade would have seen through, and chuckled at, this nutty story. :>D
