Poppajoe well I have cashier and stocking experience. Plus I minored in child development which helped me get Paraprofessional experience (teacher's aide) until the district closed the school due to lack of students. But right now to keep busy I'm volunteering in a Risk Management office and getting some extra filing and secretarial experience too that has changed since my Candy Striper days.
San Antonio Texas here. We have jobs! We have some 10 school districts, many needing teacher's aides, especially if you can work with children with challenges. HEB grocery is headquartered here, we have a wallmart distribution center, and a massive health system. THose are the biggies. Out cost of living is realtively low and we are only about 60 minutes from Austin, another job market and surrounding towns Seguin, New Braunfels, San Marcos, Fredricksburg and Kerrville. And we are a red state. Check us out!
Good point Rose, she is much closer to you than me, and it will be much less expensive to move to TX, plus the weather is similar.
Lots of jobs and military in San Antonio, so lots of opportunity.
Let me check around here. I know I've seen some help wanted signs, and the major problem in this area is that nobody can seem to pass the drug screening. I'll let you know if I find something reasonable and give you the info.

Sometimes we can find something available where we are that you might not be able to find from where you are.

@Kathy can't find a job period. And I've applied out of state multiple times to multiple places. So I'm not just sitting on my back side.
Sulley, I do not mean to imply that you are "sitting on your backside", only that thinking outside of the box might give you more options. I do not know what your vocation is but remember that as long as you work for someone else you will remain a slave. We have been programmed to get a job and work for others but you are seeing the real consequences of relying on others for our welfare.
Do you do your own small project maintenance around your house? Many people are looking for good reliable people to do small maintenance projects around their house. Are you good at gardening? Grow plants and sell them at flea markets, and offer classes to those who want to learn. Dried and fresh herbs are always in demand. Do you have a fenced in yard? How about a doggie day care? You could offer to clip hair and nails for nominal fee since you are not certified. I'm not saying that any of these options are right for you. Your best bet is to find the thing that you are passionate about and find a way to make money doing it. You may never be rich but you will always love going to work.

Listen to Sean Hannity. He's really on a kick about moving to where the jobs are. North Dakota is so desperate for manpower they spending millions trying to get people to move there.
I live in Yuma and have been unemployed for 7 years. It is very hard to find work here.
Work isn't easy in a lot of places- particularly in liberal/progressive political strongholds since the bureaucratic parasite that is liberalism feeds off the wealth that might otherwise be used to grow business and create jobs. It took me a good six months in Connecticut to finally land the manufacturing position I found two years ago.
I had to be relentless during my "idle" stretch... and being bombarded by all the claims of job creation being a priority that was belied by the job killing policies didn't help my frame of mind... though it did cement my status as unaffiliated Conservative- so there's some good to be gained from the aggravation. What I saw then so clearly for the first time in my life was politicians on BOTH sides of the aisle turning the plight of the low and no income population into a political commodity- with NOTHING being offered reflecting any real desire to change the situation and actually solve the problem. The thing is that by their actions (not words) they do not see it as a problem. It's an exploitable opportunity not to go to waste- something that serves their ends if it gets protracted as much as possible.
I got lucky.
There's plenty of work in Yuma. You just have to be prepared to do hard work in the fields, and be an illegal alien.
I have one question. Is it that you can't find a job, or that you can't find a job that you want? Be honest.

The communist liberals just don't get it, when people work they pay taxes, when people don't, they create a burden on society. Eventually, the system will collapse, leaving only a very few in control, and the rest as slaves.

second didn't.

free Meals and Food Stamps ever --- to 47 million people, as of the most
recent figures available in 2013 .
Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S.Department of
the Interior, asks us "Please Do Not Feed the Animals."
The stated reason for this policy is because "The animals will grow
dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."

Exactly... also as clear as anything I've read or written about how what they SAY they are trying to achieve doesn't make any sense considering their policies... and as clear an underscore as exists pointing out the blatant war being waged on the working class- the legislative looting of peoples' hard earned savings for the purpose of redistribution under the guise of compassion.
Progressives would counter that Yuma has more Green jobs, which are much, much, much, much better than regular jobs, and therefore is the next best thing to Heaven on Earth.
So that's how far we've fallen, eh? In the Øbama economy, any job is a good job, but some jobs are more gooder than others? Say it ain't so Joe!
