  • Well -- I can =almost= see this. I mean I can see a proper concern here. Not the way it was handled though.

    1) if you are a gun owner, you are NOT going to want looters going through your house and stealing stuff, especially guns.

    2) If these floods are very extended, you are NOT going to want your house and stuff in it getting waterlogged and rusty.

Agree, IF what they were doing was looking out for honest citizens, they should have allowed people back in to secure their private property as they saw fit -- or to tell the cops, Yeah, grab my shotguns please and hold them at the station until this mess is over. While you're at it, get my new 40" LCD TV and my $3000 computer, eh?

  • This is nowhere near incredible. This is Canada. They gave their liberties away a long time ago. However I cannot hate, we are doing the exact same thing

  • Hidde them carefully. If possible, also have fake firearms, decoys that are less well hidden.

    • I have a friend that is a retired Mountie.
He told me that buying ammo in Canada is as tough as buying a gun in New York. You need a license to get it, if you can find any.

  • The home owners had to leave but the cops didn't? WTF! Cops broke into peoples homes for no reason and without a warrant? Double WTF!! Why aren't the cops in jail for breaking and entering? That is what would happen to any of us if we did such a stupid thing.

Crap like this is why I have never, nor ever will, let some gooberment goombah tell me I have to leave my home. If the damn thing is burning down around my ears I'll leave on my own but until then no way.

  • What have we learned here today? Registration leads to confiscation all under the guise of security and safety for the public.

When will these Canadians see their firearms returned to them? What is in plain sight? In a closet, in a drawer, in a gun safe?

We in the US need to learn from this and from the disaster in New Orleans.

  • It more than likely it will happen here.

The gestap...er DHS could take my weapons but they all went down in a tragic boating accident.

  • WHOA, HOLD ON JUST A SECOND HERE!!!
    Canadians have guns? Who knew?

Well, other than the folks who were confiscating them of course.
