• After movie rights are sold, her relatives, leeches, and other morons will be 1%'ers.... hmm

• The British media reported Wednesday that Amy Winehouse had five times the British legal driving limit for alcohol in her body at the time of her death. She apparently hadn't had a drink for weeks and then went on a binge. There's a binge drinker in my family and I can tell you from personal experience that it is very hard on a family. They won't drink for months and then go off the rails.

  • The sad thing is, they can go through spin dry programs a dozen times, & if they don't want to clean up thier act or don't have the will power, it won't help. I went to school with many people who went through treatment & if they did'nt want to be sober, it did'nt work. It is sad to see from close up.

• My wife told me that Winehouse tried to get hold of Dr Drew to get on his rehab show, but she couldn't get in touch with him.

  • I don't like most reality shows but I kinda watch Dr.Drew's shows some. It seems like a lot of addicts have some type of early life trauma that falls way outside of normal dysfunction.

  • I am going to have to be real... I feel bad that she died and all... but you are right. She was on a downward spiral and even her family knew this was going to happen at any moment. It is what it is.

    • I believe her father had wrote her eulogy before she died.

      Great vocalist, but she was an addict, & did'nt hit bottom until she died. That is where some bottom out, many hit bottom sooner & clean up their act. Winehouse never did, & she had more to live for then most. I just could'nt imagine what she went through in the tabloid media spotlight.

      • It IS tough on loved ones watching somebody go down the drain of alcohol or drug addiction, knowing that at some point, you're going to lose them. I feel for her family. But since I didn't know her, and couldn't even identify a song of hers if it was playing, it really affects me not at all. She did this to herself, and there is nobody else to blame.

        • I know exactly how her parents feel, maybe that was why I was so cold hearted in my first reply to this story.

          We try to raise our children right, teach them right from wrong, provide them with a better chance at life than we had, and for some reason shit just happens. My youngest sons ashes are scattered across his favorite ski slope. All because of the damn drugs.

        • damn, dude.. that is sad. I can only hope my kids outlive me. But so much Fate comes at us unawares

        • Yeah, there but for the Grace of God go I. Sad story, but Amy's the one that did this to herself. In the final analysis, she had no one to blame but herself. The shame is that these people leave devastated families behind. About all's a person can say is that they did their best.

          The best thing you can do for your kid is to not enable them, and even then, it's a crap shoot whether or not they will get smart and sober up.

• Apparantly heroin dissipates after 24 hours and is untracable. How else do you explain this?

  • Opiates like heroin don't dissipate that fast. most opiates hang around for a while. If you have ever taken percocet or some other opiate pain killer it will still be in the blood for about a week, although in small amounts. heroin addicts are usually very mellow, and very skinny. one of the systems it stops up is the G.I. tract. and it suppresses the appetite.

    Considering the amount of alcohol, she died from alcohol poisoning. at .040 percent blood alcohol most people have seizures and their system starts shutting down. She had enough to actually cause poisoning the same as if she drank drain cleaner. That much alcohol just stops up the works.

    Normal folks (depending on body weight) are drunk at about .12 or so, people you see passed out, and if they are an experienced drinker, about .20-.25.. hardcore alcoholics can hit.30 to .40 and still function somewhat well. and above that, like her, you end up meeting the undertaker.

  • Someone on one of the entertainment shows floated the idea that she had a seizure coming off of alcohol. I kinda feel sorry for someone who was such a tortured soul.
