All the pain for zero gain – painful facts about wind energy

All the pain for zero gain – painful facts about wind energy.“To the nearest whole number, the percentage of the world’s energy that comes from wind turbines today is: zero.” Wind provides .3%, still lowered oceans above solar photovoltaic, which doesn’t even crack the .1% mark even after the Amazing Transparent President flushed billions down that crony-lined rathole. Zero. Say it again: Zero.

Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one. • This is a revealing chart and I would like to re-post this information. However I would like to know the source for the data.

    • Click on the title of the article. It's a link to the page where the info came from. That page has links to several sources including business week. The graph is from Wikipedia.

  • As long as the Obama regime pimps fake energy solutions rather then developing our massive energy reserves, we are doomed.

  • To be fair, I'd like to see how the percentages shake down by country. Obviously that 'virtually zero' must include nations that have little or no wind development, which obviously skews it off. I think it would be more honest and informative to see the percentages of the top ten wind-use countries (it says China is #1, but gives use in actual GW,not %.)

I've got nothing against wind power as such, as long it is an actual viable business and not a tax-money rathole paying off political catamites.

    • The Dutch have been using it for centuries, but still aren't generating electricity from it. Anyone wonder why?

  • John, how will occupying help stop oil companies? Please explain. Also, please show, with sources, 'the technology that may be there'.

  • Well that's because the evil oil companies don't want to give up their monopoly so they have the world brainwashed into not wanting to switch over to any other renewable power supply. The technology may be there, but the politics of Big Oil won't let it spread.

    Keep Occupying!

    • John, who is it that you feel is hoarding this wonderful technology? Probably the same guy that has the technology to run a car engine on water. If the oil companies had the technology that would allow wind power to be economically fesible, don't you think they would take the opportunity to make money on it. Wind will never replace oil, because oil is necessary to run airplanes, ships and heavy trucks, so what is the motive for keeping viable green energy off the market if the oil companies own it and can make money on it?

      • Arlan, you need to stop talking common sense to john. He is incapable of understanding anything that isn't a conspiracy theory.
He probably sits and watches a huge loop tape of the Jesse Ventura "Conspiracy Theory" series 24/7.
That way he can get his "anti-corporation" and his "big wrestling" fix at the same time!

      • An entrepreneur (Let alone one of the big money grubbing, Earth killing for pleasure Oil Companies) taking it upon himself to see an emerging market and fund his own money for that goal?! That's not what Democracy looks like (Just imagine me holding a sign chanting that over and over as if to try and convince myself) The only REAL innovation has come from countless amount of government research! We ALL know Benjamin Franklin only made half of what he made because he was being funded by the Federal government..... wait, he wasn't?! I gotta stop taking my news from drum circles!

      • RIP OWS, they tried, they died, now they need to detox, bathe, and get a job. Or come out as Slackin' Hippies In Tents.

  • Again, I say: These things are a propeller attached to a generator. There's not going to be much in the way of innovation. What you get out of wind power today is pretty much all you'll ever get out of it.

The only way to boost that number up from zero is to have them take over more and more real estate.

I, for one, say the hell with that.

    • Depends on where they put it. How about next to the White House to catch all the hot air from Obama?

  • We need to get that nuclear pumped up. When was the last time you heard of Ohio getting wiped off the face of the earth by a tsunami.

    • If it's a Tsunami of idiocy I think we have more than enough problems to call in FEMA
