So rather then spending trillions on a train to nowhere, maybe they could try to build a couple of desalination plants, but that makes too much sense for these ingrate morons.
Because the point of all the concern over the environment is not to improve or conserve it - it's to use the environment to constantly hound lower forms of life (meaning people who actually work at producing things and services people want), into submission to the StateGod.
LibFascists love trains because they can control where and when people go (as opposed to cars, which we use to go wherever and whenever we damn well please). Desalination plants will not promote control over anyone. In fact, they will most likely do the opposite - they will remove the ability to use water shortages as a tool of control.
Liberals love trains cause they can not turn right or left and deviate from the coarse they are on.....And one person is in control...The perfect libtard vehicle.
Right - first you build the trains. Then you run the price of gasoline through the roof, either by cutting the supply side, or by taxation (one of the main reasons for the "concern" over AGW). Then you herd the people out of the suburbs and into little boxes built near the trains.
That last one would have been the real challenge. Heavy commuting costs would not necessarily get people out of the suburbs. But there is an interesting phenomena happening now. The Gen Y or millenials, or whatever the utes entering the workforce now are called, are moving back to the cities. The apartment construction business is through the roof up and down along the Hudson River in NJ. Apparently the young-uns are willing to take all the money they save on gasoline and lawn services and pour it into private schools.
So the libbies may end up getting what they want.
What makes you think they can afford private schools? Have you seen the rent costs there?

That's what I thought, on first reading the headline, that it was in California City. But it's actually in A California city. Dublin, in the Bay Area, which accounts for the stupidity.
The problem is CA got away with so much for so long, there's no self-restraint. Plus, about 70% of my native state are morons, irrespective of how much money they have, e.g., Tim Cook, Tom Steyer, Harvey Weinstein. Those of us with some self-discipline, circumspection, foresight and modesty are far out-numbered by the morons. Dublin will go the way of Vallejo, Stockton and San Bernardino...faster, please (to borrow from Glenn Reynolds).

Maybe I've forgotten how 2+2 works, but if climate change is real, and we'll either all be in a drought or play host to millions of climate refugees, shouldn't every single democrat, leftist, progressive, neo-hippie, econut, and greentard be against each and every kind of water park, feature, etcetera? After all, isn't a water park akin to a murder scene? Pools of Gaia blood and whatnot...

In Stockton Years ago they built a new waterfront area complete with this fountain for "da childrens" to play in.....Instead at night all the homeless started getting naked and took baths in the various spray nozzles designed into this thing...so then came the fence (at an additional cost) so the bums went back to using the fountain in front of the court house. What a site..a bunch of naked people in front of the courthouse washing out their undies at 3 am....

Funny thing about the dust thing, when I was a kid that's what everybody did with their used motor oil: spread it on the nearest dirt road to kill the dust. Works like a charm. If you did that now the eco-freaks would have a cow.

Yea we did the same thing back in the Midwest. In the spring they would grade the farm to market roads (gravel) and spread oil on them to keep the dust down...
Water isn't used just to keep down the dust on jobsites. If you're doing any grading or earthmoving, you have to have a certain percentage of water content in the dirt to get compaction. I guess it's not a concern though, with this project, since nobody will ever ride the train.

This is the governmental equivalent of "too big to fail"; they've already spent so much money that they have finish the project no matter what. Unfortunately, this attitude is not unique to California.
Like they haven't had water problems for the last 70 years or so! I heard the Guv the other day. It appears they are just now getting around to basics like rationing water for lawns, carwashes, etc. Too little, waaaay too late.
