The Fascist Threat: 60s folk song rings true today

There was one folk singer in the 60s who stood out from all the rest. While the rest of them were singing This Land Is Your Land and Kumbaya and Michael Rowed the Boat Ashore and Where Have All the Flowers Gone, Janet Greene said, “The hell with that liberal crap. Let’s sing about the real problems in America.”

Where are you today when we need you, Janet?

    • i like steppenwolf, but i hate rock epics, maybe ill listen to it later, but so far it just sounds like he is recounting american history

  • ahhh, this takes me back! i remember hearing this on the radio while out on a date with mary sue.

...my forties were such a wonderful time in my life...

but seriously, old people music, i need some rock 'n' roll, talkin bout; chuck berry, or elvis, go cat go.

but really, i need some music from the renaissance, because i pretend it makes me sophisticated.

  • Wow! Impressive! So there were rational artists around in the sixties, you wouldn't know it from history books or the infotainment industry.

  • Beats the heck outta typical 60's academia thinking put into folk music... such hits as:

"If I Had a Hammer... and a Sickle" by the Lenin Sisters
"500 Miles... and We'll Arrive at the Gulag" by Dusty Yevksi
"Mikhail Rowed His Collective's Boat Ashore" by Iva Gotda Trotskis
