Angry British journalist labels Michelle Obama “Lady MacBeth”

British journalist James Delingpole, a columnist for the Telegraph, is angry about the state of Anglo-American relations. And he lays the blame right square at the designer shod feet of Michelle Obama.

“I was asked for my reaction as a true born Englishman to President Obama’s double insult – first the sending back of the Winston Churchill bust, then his snub to Gordon Brown.”

“Britain’s friendship,” Delingpole continued, “is something Obama will come to regret having dispensed with so lightly. This was not the act of a global statesman, but of a hormonal teenager dismissing her bestest of best BFs for no other reason than that she felt like it and she can, so there.”

“Obama’s judgment,” he concluded, “is pretty dreadful – but this? My favourite theory…was that it was a move calculated to please his Lady Macbeth. At the moment in Britain, we’re still in the “Doesn’t she look fabulous in a designer frock” stage of understanding of Michelle Obama. Gradually, though, we’ll begin to realise that she is every bit the terrifying executive’s wife that Hillary Clinton was. Or, shudder, Cherie Blair.”

We can just imagine the White House response:

“Frock? Michelle’s dress is not a frock. It’s a $10,000 Jason Woo original.”

  • Yeah, that was a cheap shot and it made no sense. Michelle Obama didn't kill anybody, and has nothing to do with what BO did. It's pretty low and juvenile to try attacking a man by making dumb cat-calls about his wife. Is this journalist jealous or something? And who cares about looks anyway, sheesh!

  • Yea, and that Alan Darden said the article illustrated that "..this journalist isn't intelligent enough to present a reasonable comprehensible arguement." Too bad he can't spell "a-r-g-u-m-e-n-t" and doesn't know English well enough to put a comma between the equal adjectives, "reasonable" and "comprehensible."

  • As a pastey skinned Brit with a scullery maid's face, I'll say anything about my fellow pastey Brits I wish to say. Thank You Very Much. We all know we are the color of fish bellies. Truth isn't racism.

  • Racist, really? I think the racist is the author of the article. If you want to attack Barack Obama's political policies, then attack. Michelle Obama is no more responsible for Barack Obama than Laura Bush is for George Bush. The article simply illustrates this journalist isn't intelligent enough to present a reasonable comprehensible arguement. There is plenty to condemn about Obama's handling of the banking crisis at home and internationally. No, the article's author is the classless tasteless teenager in his scenario.

  • Melissa, Isn't that a little racist of you? It's not her fault she was born with a lighter complexion than Michelle's.

  • Michelle Obama cann't be compared to any British prime Minister's wife. She's neither pastey nor does she have the face of a scullery maid. As for her frock, designer or not, it looks much better than our British granny style matron's togs.
