The Mainstream Media Chose a Side and Now It’s Paying the Price

The Mainstream Media Chose a Side and Now It’s Paying the Price. We’ve been paying the price for decades and still are. Nice piece by Kurt Schlichter.

What’s super sad is that when I started counting all of the mainstream media reporters I respect I didn’t run out of fingers. Most of them are just what Glenn “Instapundit” Reynolds memorably labeled “Democrats with Bylines.” And that’s literally true – something like 90% of them are, in fact, Democrats.

Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Nomination

Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Nomination. This doesn’t come from us, it’s the New York Times editorial board again today. Read the below and tell us it doesn’t make you wonder what they were smoking this morning.

Voters have the chance to choose one of the most broadly and deeply qualified presidential candidates in modern history.

Qualified at what? Having an illegal server with illegal above top secret emails residing on it and lying her ass off about it? Perhaps having people donate money to the Clinton Foundation while she was Secretary of State in return for “favors?”

In our opinion the only thing she’s “qualified” for is jail.

The best hate mail response to our “Welcome Al Gore” ad

As expected, we’ve received a ton of hate mail concerning our Welcome to Monetico, Al Gore ad, but none more hateful and incoherent than this one from a proud, liberal Montecito resident.

gore-villa-montecito
The posh Gore villa in Montecito, California has a sizeable carbon footprint

You’ve probably seen the ad we ran to welcome Al Gore to the tony seaside community of Montecito, California. It’s gone viral and the traffic has already downed our server twice.

As expected, we’ve received a ton of hate mail, but none more hateful and incoherent than this one from a proud, liberal Montecito resident.

The town is making every sarcastic, insulting remark about your outfit from our offices to the restaurants. You’re a laughing joke!

1. No one “warmly” welcomes someone they despise.

2. Those who “hate” the media, would not contribute to it by paying for a full-page ad.

3. Why would you care about a so-called carbon footprint, when you obviously don’t believe there is such a thing as climate change?

4. Al Gore did not build this house. Why have you not attacked the person who designed it and built on grounds that use to be open space and supported views and wildlife? Why are you not angry with the people that owned it before Mr. Gore?

5. I live alone and have 4 TV’s, however, never is there more than one on at a time! You can have 17 fireplaces, but usually only one is on at a time, not six! That house has gas fireplaces – it will not be burning any forests. (Sorry you don’t have even one.)

6. Why have you not attacked Ivan Reitman, Stuart Whitman, Dennis Miller, Carole Burnett, Steve Martin, Oprah, John Cleese and Rob Rowe, Eric Schmidt of Google??????? I could go on and on.

7. Over 80% of houses with ocean views in Montecito have over an acre, a swimming pool and spa and multiple fireplaces, bedrooms and baths. Duh! You’ve obviously never stepped your carbon smutty foot in Montecito!

8. I’m sorry your hatred and envy of what you think you know, but don’t, is burning such a hot hole in your heart. I guess those who have nothing, and no power, will always blame others and resent their success.

P.S. You’ll have no money in the Bank of Karma at the end of your life either.

Think we’d be safe in saying “LifeInMontecito” isn’t a fan of IHateTheMedia.com?

All we did was welcome Al Gore to his new home. Why are people so upset?

We ran an ad in the Montecito Journal, Al’s new hometown newspaper, welcoming the Goracle to the neighborhood. We did it because we’re warmhearted, caring people. So why are we getting all these angry emails?

When we heard Al Gore was moving into a new beachside Montecito mansion just a couple hours down the road from IHateTheMedia.com’s international headquarters, we did the neighborly thing and tried to deliver a welcome basket filled with central coast wines. Unfortunately, the security guards weren’t as neighborly as we were.

So we did the next best thing and ran an ad in the Montecito Journal, Al’s new hometown newspaper, welcoming the Goracle to the neighborhood.

We did it because we’re warmhearted, caring people.

So why are we getting all these angry emails?

LA Times skews report of its own poll, says California voters “closely divided” on Arizona’s illegal alien law

Those intrepid, unbiased reporters at the Los Angeles Times have done it again. They call a 7% difference in opinion on the Arizona law “closely divided”, but heralded Barack Obama’s identical 7% margin a “decisive victory”.

los angeles times obama decisive victory Those intrepid, unbiased reporters at the Los Angeles Times have done it again. And we quote:

California voters are closely divided over the crackdown on illegal immigration in Arizona, with sharp splits along lines of ethnicity and age, according to a new Los Angeles Times/USC poll.

Overall, 50% of registered voters surveyed said they support the law, which compels police to check the immigration status of those they suspect are in the country illegally, while 43% oppose it. That level of support is lower than polls have indicated nationwide.

So now the Times calls a 7% difference “closely divided”, but heralded Barack Obama’s identical 7% margin a “decisive victory.”

Of course, the Times poll surveyed registered voters, so we can safely assume that a poll of likely voters would have skewed even more conservative and increase the margin of support for Arizona’s law.

Interestingly, the staff and management here at IHateTheMedia.com is “closely divided” on the Los Angeles Times. 50% of us think it should be used to wrap fish, but 43% think it should be used to line bird cages.

But please keep in mind that we only surveyed registered voters, not likely voters.

The New York Times bids a fond farewell to a dear old friend: European socialism

European socialism is dead. Even the New York Times can no longer deny it. Of course, that doesn’t stop the Times from promoting the same failed system here in the United States, but that’s another story.

man-kissing-stalin-portrait
Stalin believed in cradle-to-grave care, but put added emphasis on the grave part of the equation.

European socialism is dead. Even the New York Times can no longer deny it. Of course, that doesn’t stop the Times from promoting the same failed system here in the United States, but that’s another story.

Across Western Europe, the “lifestyle superpower,” the assumptions and gains of a lifetime are suddenly in doubt. The deficit crisis that threatens the euro has also undermined the sustainability of the European standard of social welfare, built by left-leaning governments since the end of World War II.

Europeans have boasted about their social model, with its generous vacations and early retirements, its national health care systems and extensive welfare benefits, contrasting it with the comparative harshness of American capitalism.

Europeans have benefited from low military spending, protected by NATO and the American nuclear umbrella. They have also translated higher taxes into a cradle-to-grave safety net. “The Europe that protects” is a slogan of the European Union.

But all over Europe governments with big budgets, falling tax revenues and aging populations are experiencing rising deficits, with more bad news ahead.

With low growth, low birthrates and longer life expectancies, Europe can no longer afford its comfortable lifestyle, at least not without a period of austerity and significant changes. The countries are trying to reassure investors by cutting salaries, raising legal retirement ages, increasing work hours and reducing health benefits and pensions.

The most important sentence in that excerpt are, “Europeans have benefited from low military spending, protected by NATO and the American nuclear umbrella.”

Yes, your tax dollars enabled the Europeans to believe the world was a real life Candyland and convinced them they could spend foolishly on unsustainable social folderol.

But the folderol has come home to roost.

Elena Kagan doesn’t cross her legs. And other vital liberal observations.

Count on the Washington Post to discuss the most important issues of the day. Or not. In this case, the paper had a body language expert analyze the way Kagan sits. The conclusion? She doesn’t cross her legs. And that proves what a strong, independent women she is.

elena kagan does not cross legs
News flash! Elena Kagan doesn't cross her legs.

Count on the Washington Post to discuss the most important issues of the day. Or not.

In this case, the paper had a body language expert analyze the way Kagan sits. The conclusion? She doesn’t cross her legs. And that proves what a strong, independent women she is.

The Post observes:

In the photographs of Kagan sitting and chatting in various Capitol Hill offices, she doesn’t appear to ever cross her legs. Her posture stands out because for so many women, when they sit, they cross. People tend to mimic each other’s body language during a conversation, especially if they’re trying to connect with one another. But even when Kagan sits across from Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who has her legs crossed at the knees, Kagan keeps both feet planted firmly on the ground. Her body language will not be bullied into conformity.

She does not cross her legs at the ankles either, the way so many older women do. Instead, Kagan sits, in her sensible skirts, with her legs slightly apart, hands draped in her lap. The woman and her attire seem utterly at odds. She is intent on being comfortable. No matter what the clothes demand. No matter the camera angle.

We reach a slightly different conclusion: The woman is overweight and couldn’t cross her legs if her life depended on it.

Sorry. It may be a superficial observation, but it makes a lot more sense than the Post’s liberal mumbo jumbo.

New York Times reports that pro-illegal alien protests are growing (from four people to five)

New York Times writer Julia Preston wrote about a five student sit-in at John McCain’s Arizona office. The story was deemed significant enough to include photo of the squatting students.

illegal-alien-protest
You could fit some pro-amnesty protests in a phone booth. If you could find a phone booth.

The New York Times routinely ignores massive conservative protests because they’re just too darn busy covering ridiculously small liberal protests.

For example, reporter Julia Preston wrote a glowing 780-word story earlier this year about a four-student march from Miami to Washington, D.C. in support of illegal immigrant students.

This week Preston upped the ante, writing about a five student sit-in at John McCain’s Arizona office. The story was deemed significant enough to include photo of the squatting students.

In an escalation of protest tactics, five immigrants dressed in caps and gowns held a sit-in on Monday at the Tucson offices of Senator John McCain, calling on him to sponsor legislation to open a path to legal status for young illegal immigrants.

Four of the protesters, including three who are in the country illegally, were arrested Monday evening on misdemeanor trespassing charges. The three were expected to face deportation proceedings.

And as if she Preston was worried that you may have missed her earlier story about the four student march, she referred back to it:

Illegal immigrant students have become increasingly public in their protests in recent months, as the prospects for an immigration overhaul faded in Washington. Four immigrant students walked from Miami to Washington, arriving in late April. So far, immigration authorities have not moved to detain student protesters.

Good lord. Why, at the rate these protests are growing, they could be up to ten, maybe twelve people in no time at all. And that’s what the New York Times calls front page news.

Stop the presses! New York Times discovers slew of self-loathing black Republicans running for office!

We made up the “self-loathing” part, but you just know it probably got edited out of the New York Times story on black Republican candidates at the very last minute. It’s just the way liberals think.

Lt. Col. Allen West
The brilliant, charismatic former army Lt. Col. Allen West is running for Congress as a Republican in Florida's 22nd District.

We made up the “self-loathing” part, but you just know it probably got edited out of the New York Times story on black Republican candidates at the very last minute. It’s just the way liberals think.

The Times has the painful story of changing times:

Among the many reverberations of President Obama’s election, here is one he probably never anticipated: at least 32 African-Americans are running for Congress this year as Republicans, the biggest surge since Reconstruction, according to party officials.

The House has not had a black Republican since 2003, when J. C. Watts of Oklahoma left after eight years.

But now black Republicans are running across the country — from a largely white swath of beach communities in Florida to the suburbs of Phoenix, where an African-American candidate has raised more money than all but two of his nine (white) Republican competitors in the primary.

Party officials and the candidates themselves acknowledge that they still have uphill fights in both the primaries and the general elections, but they say that black Republicans are running with a confidence they have never had before. They credit the marriage of two factors: dissatisfaction with the Obama administration, and the proof, as provided by Mr. Obama, that blacks can get elected.

“I ran in 2008 and raised half a million dollars, and the state party didn’t support me and the national party didn’t support me,” said Allen West, who is running for Congress in Florida and is one of roughly five black candidates the party believes could win. “But we came back and we’re running and things are looking great.”

But interviews with many of the candidates suggest that they felt empowered by Mr. Obama’s election, that it made them realize that what had once seemed impossible — for a black candidate to win election with substantial white support — was not.

The New York Times is shocked – shocked, we tell you – that a black man could be a conservative and even more shocked that racist white conservatives would vote for him.

Come November, let’s see if they report that white Democrat voters are racist for voting against those black conservatives.

We won’t hold our breath.

L.A. Times shocker: Barbara Boxer not the sharpest bulb in the knife drawer

“On the Democratic side, we find that we’re no fans of incumbent Barbara Boxer. She displays less intellectual firepower or leadership than she could…..”

Barbara Boxer LA Times no endorsementt
"Really. How did I get here in the first place?"

In a surprising turn of events, the Left Anarchist Los Angeles Times has declined to endorse any candidates for governor or senator in the upcoming June primary elections.

All four people who still read the Times were baffled, one even proclaiming; “No hablo Inglés.”

The Times editorial said:

On the Democratic side, we find that we’re no fans of incumbent Barbara Boxer. She displays less intellectual firepower or leadership than she could. We appreciate the challenge brought by Robert “Mickey” Kaus, even though he’s not a realistic contender, because he asks pertinent questions about Boxer’s “lockstep liberalism” on labor, immigration and other matters. But we can’t endorse him, because he gives no indication that he would step up to the job and away from his Democratic-gadfly persona.

The woman has represented California in the United States Senate since 1992 and the state’s major newspaper is just now figuring out that Barbara “Call Me Senator” Boxer displays less intellectual firepower or leadership than she could?

That gives rise to the obvious question, “Who’s dumber? Barbara Boxer or the Los Angeles Times editorial board?”

Obama and Clinton = Starsky & Hutch?

Newsweek revealed the Mainstream Media’s honeymoon with Obama is over. Now reporters can only find models in cop buddy dramas from the 1970s.

Starsky
Starsky and Hutch seen here berating Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for erecting a new apartment building project in East Jerusalem

A recent Newsweek article reveals that the Mainstream Media’s honeymoon with the Obama administration is officially over. Once reporters compared Barack Obama and his band of miracle workers to gods and heroes of the American Revolution, now they can only find models in cop buddy dramas from the 1970s.

Newsweek says that Hillary Clinton and Obama are the political equivalent of Starsky and Hutch. Why?

The magazine claims it’s because, like Starsky and Hutch, the two started out as political rivals, but now are working in seamless harmony to solve world peace and end global warming.

Do you remember the episode when Huggy Bear gave Starsky a tip about where the Iranians were storing the nuclear centrifuges?

If the media is running out of dynamic seventies duos to describe Obama and Clinton, here are some other possible analogies.

Laverne and Shirley. Two crazy dames manage to screw up everything, as they try to remain lovable. Special guest appearance by Joe Biden as Squiggy.

Cheech and Chong. The political leanings of these two old hippies may unfortunately too right wing for team Clinton-Obama.

Beau and Luke Duke. Bill Clinton makes guest appearance as Boss Hogg.

What about Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid?

We’ll let you figure out which one would be Butch.

Washington Post beginning to wake up, see Obama administration for what it really is

The Washington Post, proud bastion of liberal reportage, is not happy with the President Obama. Make no mistake, they’ll continue to kiss his butt, but suddenly, they’re not too happy about it.

Kittens usually open their eyes in 8-14 days. It's taken the media considerably longer.

The Washington Post, proud bastion of liberal reportage, is not happy with the President Obama. Make no mistake, they’ll continue to kiss his butt, but suddenly, they’re not too happy about it.

Dana Milbank issued this uncensored report on the censorship at the Nuclear Security Summit:

World leaders arriving in Washington for President Obama’s Nuclear Security Summit must have felt for a moment that they had instead been transported to Soviet-era Moscow.

They entered a capital that had become a military encampment, with camo-wearing military police in Humvees and enough Army vehicles to make it look like a May Day parade on New York Avenue, where a bicyclist was killed Monday by a National Guard truck.

In the middle of it all was Obama — occupant of an office once informally known as “leader of the free world” — putting on a clinic for some of the world’s greatest dictators in how to circumvent a free press.

The only part of the summit, other than a post-meeting news conference, that was visible to the public was Obama’s eight-minute opening statement, which ended with the words: “I’m going to ask that we take a few moments to allow the press to exit before our first session.”

Not to worry. Reporters are easy. All Obama needs to do is send a tray of fancy canapés and a couple brewskis over to media room and all will be forgiven.

Hypocrisy x bias = New York Times

No one was harder on the Wall Street tycoons who took bonuses with their bailouts than the New York Times.

Why then would a foundering newspaper with plunging ad sales and subscriptions pay its lackluster Chief Executive Officer a multimillion-dollar bonus? Because bias and hypocrisy are what the New York Times stands for.

Why then would a foundering newspaper with plunging ad sales and subscriptions pay its lackluster Chief Executive Officer a multimillion-dollar bonus? Because bias and hypocrisy are what the New York Times stands for.

New York Times Co. CEO Janet Robinson was paid about $4.9 million in total compensation in 2009, that includes a bonus of about $2.3 million. Sweet.

Oh, and remember how the NYT used to bitch about stock options of all those corporate fat cats? Robinson’s stock options were worth around $1.6 million.

And in other news, while Robinson reaped the million-dollar riches for leading the shaky New York Times, the paper plans to cut over a hundred news room jobs.

Hey, they have to find money to pay Robinson somewhere and it might as well be in the news room. The Times doesn’t need to find news when they can make it up all by themselves.

ABC News to lay off hundreds, calls it a transformation. Like Custer called the Little Bighorn a transformation.

ABC News said Tuesday that it plans to substantially cut its staff as part of a “fundamental transformation” of the news division at the Walt Disney-owned US television network.

Hundreds are losing their jobs, but don't worry because Diane Sawyer is keeping hers

These are dark days for the mainstream media. Or, more properly, these are dark days for the people who work in the mainstream media.

AFP reports the latest layoff news:

ABC News said Tuesday that it plans to substantially cut its staff as part of a “fundamental transformation” of the news division at the Walt Disney-owned US television network.

ABC News president David Westin, in an email to ABC News employees, said all news department staffers would receive buyout offers in the next few days.

“The response to this voluntary program will determine the extent to which we will need to make further reductions,” he said.

Westin did not say how many jobs the company was seeking to eliminate but he said the restructuring of the news operation to take advantage of digital technology will result in “substantially fewer” people on staff at ABC News.

The Los Angeles Times, citing unidentified newsroom employees, said the network was looking to cut as many as 300 jobs, or around 20 percent of its total staff of around 1,400. The New York Times put the figure at up to 400.

Diane Sawyer didn’t get laid off, did she? No? She’s still safe? OK, then all is still right with the world.

Anyone could have made the same mistake. After all, they all look alike and have that negro dialect

Mirror UK: “The picture of Randy Jackson shows the judge from American Idol and not Randy Jackson the brother of Michael.”

Imagine the chagrin suffered by Mirror UK when they had to print the following retraction after a photo mix-up:

“The picture of Randy Jackson shows the judge from American Idol and not Randy Jackson the brother of Michael.”

We’re pretty sure that’s American Idol’s Randy Jackson on the left. But to tell the truth, we’re not positive that’s Michael Jackson’s brother on right.

Our hearts go out to Michael’s parents. First they had to identify the body of their dead son, now they may be called in to identify the body of one who’s still alive.
