AP “Fact Checks” 2016 Film: It would seem that the Appropriated Press don’t much care for Dinesh D’Souza. Obviously it is because they are racists.

  • The AP assigned 11 fact checkers to Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue" book at the same time they had assigned 2 fact checkers to the health care bill. Did the AP ever fact check Obama's autobiography which it now turns out was filled with composite characters?

  • I happened to notice that Media Malpractice - the Ziegler film - was streaming free on Netflix, so I watched it again. It is always something when you see all that stuff compiled together rather than taken bit by bit. My daughter (who thinks I am stupid about politics) watched it too, and she was transfixed. It needs to be re-watched I think!

  • Speaking of a biased report, sure gl;ad that AP caught that in the movie BUT NOT IN THEIR OWN EVALUATION OF THE MOVIE! THis was clearly a biased report, with no more documentation to support their views that they accuse the fimmakers of having. Waste of perfectly good band space!

        No, it's worse, the AP claims to be the unbiased "arbiters" of the facts, and we all know that is not true, why can't they admit it? I love debating some things with you Alien, but there is no way anyone can do the "just the facts Ma'am" thing without exposing their bias. Go ahead, try.

        • Well, i'll first reiterate that the AP did fact check Michael Moore, and found significant flaws in that Capitalism movie (which i'd only seen about 1/2 hour of.. by the time i was watching it, in general TARP had all been paid back, so his protests seemed rather outdated)

          Would a grossly liberal organization even bother to fack check Michael Moore? I bet MSNBC never did (I should look up that assertion).

          Its one thing to be sorta passively liberal because you're not writing headlines about fags destroying the country.. its another to thing to be wildly partisan and leftist like ThinkProgress, calling Republicans fascists and theocrats.. There are matters of degree here. If the "product" of the AP is so drenched with liberalism, then why do so many conservative publications use their "filler"? You ever read that filler (various AP feeds?) Boring as shit, really

          • possibly slightly so, in a passive way (internal biases of hired employees, etc..) I don't believe its focused and directed like MSNBC.. Obviously this all sits on a spectrum, and I'm at a bit of a loss to identify an organization that would be purely centrist

            however, you also see complaints about how corporate-friendly the AP is, or studies about how it tilts towards Israel and away from Palestine, or tends to take the American view on the international scene..             I am capable of being stricken by lefty content, but i'm not as conservative as just about everyone here so it probably takes a bigger dose. I can't tell you how many people have looked at me like i'm psycho because i own an assault rifle.. Its incongruous, in their minds, with my socially liberal nature

          • Slightly off topic but over at FB a woman wrote about how NPR was asking where all the moderate Republicans are. Now, we all know where NPR sits on the political spectrum but for Pete's sake has anyone heard a news outlet ask where the moderate Democreats are? You won't. Moderate Republicans aka liberals are as much to blame for our fiscal mess and erosions of our liberties as the Dems are. My true objection is just how dishonest the question is.

          • By the way, Alien, you don't own an assault rifle. You might own what the leftists CALL an assault rifle, but I'd bet my next month's retirement check that it only fires one round each time you pull the trigger.

          • It is true I would love to mod for burst fire.. but I don't want to mess with laws. Full auto likely just a waste of ammo for me. I can pull the trigger fast enough.. and stay on target

          • I seriously object to that! I am a moderate Republican and I am definitely not a liberal! ANd I don't feel my views are out of step with more conservative people. I've voted Republican inthe last several years ( started with Reagan) and I resent the idea that because I am not rabidly left or right wing, that I am "ruining the country!

          • I've watched what you say, and I don't think you're a moderate Republican. They only exist in Congress. Moderate Republicans are basically liberals who had to run as Republicans to win, and they don't believe in limited government at all. They mouth the right words at election time, but they give themselves away the second they're in office... ala Fred Upton, whose ads I have to listen to every day as he runs away from his light bulb ban as fast as he can because it's an election year.

          • Again, I AM A MODERATE REPUBLICAN. And I'm not running for anything. Maybe the Republican party needs to understand that there are a lot of us out there, who don't feel either party supports our beliefs.

          • i heard part of the NPR story yesterday when i stepped out to get my cell phone fixed. There was a fellow being interviewed who spoke of polarization in both parties, and reminisced over the clash between Rockefeller vs Goldwater. I think he was a self-identified Moderate Republican. He talked about how the most conservative Democratic Senator was to-the-left of the least conservative Republican Senator (Olympia Snowe), and that there were just a couple House Democrats who might overlap the least conservative Republicans there..

            All retiring, btw (so he said)..

            He characterized the moderate Rockefeller Republicans as the "governance wing" of the party. He said they were business-friendly, fiscally restrained and conservative, yet not hostile to ALL regulation. Also, they were relatively socially liberal

            That's a bag of traits under which i could reasonably fall, but it really doesn't seem like there's room for it in the party now. He blamed some of the dynamics of polarization on campaign finance reform (McCain-Feingold), which drained the Parties themselves of much direct funding (apparently views the parties as moderating influences)

            In terms of Debt creation, was Paul Ryan a moderate when he voted for tax cuts while also supporting unfunded war, medicare expansion, and other deficit generating bills? Not by the above definition. Was Reagan when he permitted the Debt to triple under his watch?

            I view both parties as being full of spenders, just with different priorities

          • "unfunded war" is also a lazy turn-of-phrase on my part. My thinking there involves use of off-budget emergency supplementals to cover the costs of Iraq and Afghanistan combat operations. Little effort was made to generate revenue to cover these wars. I'm of the mind that if you're going to have a war, put the country on a proper war footing. Push the War Bonds, and paint up those awesome Vargas-style pinups and goose the guys into enlisting. It is ridiculous that we ask our existing volunteers to serve 4-5 tours, while simultaneously shirking governing responsibility to raise comparable revenue..

          • Someone explain to me "unfunded war"? I'm too lazy at this moment to check that out other than to say that my understanding is that Bush went to Congress every time he needed additional funding through a supplemental budget request. Am I missing something?

          • I can only take a guess to your last question and that is it is cheaper to run AP stories about a flood in Bangladesh than it is to send "your" own reporter to the scene.

      • The AP was founded by a consortium of New York City newspaper publishers. The purpose was to shape news and opinion in that city. Today, hundreds of papers use the AP as filler for their own papers or as a way to broaden their reach by gaining access to international or national coverage of news stories. I believe that it leans left especially its over the air newscasts on the radio.

  • Hahaha... the "fact check" says: "...He does not mention that Obama ordered the raid that killed Osama bin Laden..."

    How incredibly ironic that the "fact check" is willing to assume that Obama ordered the kill, despite mounting evidence that Obama was an unwilling participant who was forced to acquiesce.

    These "fact checks" are so impossibly annoying and frustrating. They are the very image of the fox guarding the hen house.

  • I saw it yesterday @ 11:50 and the place was 3/4 full and yes there where all kinds of pissed off people leaving the theater. Some where whispering others where vocal about what they had seen. I had read the book already and knew what the movie was based on. It's too bad that the movie was condescended. The book goes into much more detail on barry's past.

  • If Obama's father didn't shape him in any way, then why did he call the book that was written for him "Dream of My Father"?

      • Actually, it should have been called "Dreams of my Mother". She made sure he had men in his life (since his father just went wherever & had kids with whoever) & made sure they were radical leftist marxists/communists. Obama then sought them out in college, & still does to this day.

  • I saw "2016" with my wife last night. The theater was filled and the audience was hushed; you could have heard a pin drop on the carpet! I saw a lot of pissed off people leave the theater...
