Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages.   • Of the minimal information reported on this case, my biggest concernis the 911 on which Zimmerman is asked if he is following the subject and he admits he is. That is way beyond the duty of a neighborhood watch Captain, and to me negates his use of self defense as a defense. Still, I feel none of us has been given adequate information about either party to be making a conclusion about guilt. PS They are sweating Zoimmerman being half white. Have they talked to a Hispanic person lately about their "love" of Blacks? Didn't think so. Hispanics as a rule hate Blacks more than Whites are reputed to hate anyone. Any comments from Zimmerman's Mom, or his Hispanic relatives?

      Again, there WILL be a trial, and hopefully the truth will come out of it. But even that might not be possible since the media has already made such a circus out of it.

      • I'm being a Devil's advocate here. If someone was following me in a rough neighborhood and I felt threatened, I might consider beating the hell out of them. As far as a trial, I certainly hope so. The change of venue will need to be on Mars. The Special Prosecuter announced a press conference yesterday scheduled for Friday. Today the headlines read "charges to be announced Friday!"

    • I have to say that Hispanics (a good deal of them) love being called White and hate being called people of color or else being treated as such. They hate coming to this country and being considered a minority. That is due because in Latin American countries they are the majority. The relationship between hispanics and blacks is a problem and it has been a problem in a lot of hispanic countries and it is here as well. It is not unusual for an hispanic to feel that he or she should get access to things because they are "white". Hispanics who are not Black or Asians have to learn to adjust to that, those that do not end up being racists. La Raza is a racist institution and not only against White people. I have experience much racism in the hands of Hispanics than American Whites. Not saying all hispanics are racists or that Zimmerman is, but it is not unusual.

      • The Dominican Republicans are very dark skinned, but call themselves Hispanic. The other half of the island, Haiti is universally considered Black and the Dominicans cant stand them!

        • It has always bothered me the hypocrisy of (certain) "white" Hispanics to come here and demand respect and civil rights, while at the same time they are incredibly racists AND in their home countries the race relations with other Hispanics who cannot call themselves whites are strained (to say the least).

          • This is why you can't legislate how people thnk and feel about race, skin color, etc. Humans are imperfect, and as a group are suspicious of the "other" what ever that may be. Unfortunate and usually unfounded, but there it is. Sad.

      • Well, I went to High School in the early/mid 70's. There was a huge amount of racial tension in my school. There were 3 primary groups, whites, blacks, and Puerto Ricans. The Puerto Ricans hated the blacks more than the whites and blacks hated each other.
        I can't explain it, but that's the way it was.

  • This particular case, while being used to stir up racial tension, is also being used to work towards repealing "stand your ground" laws. Once again, siding with criminals.

  • If the Lame Stream Media spent as much time reporting what the criminals in Washington DC were trying to steal from us as they spent race baiting on their behalf then maybe we would actually see "Change"

  • Why does anyone here think Obama or the race hustlers or puppetmasters like Soros care about race relations. There is a lot of profit in chaos, political and monetary.
    Oh, and the nice byproduct is another opportunity to marginalize and demonaize the working class, middle class white male while giving the impression that we are mindless racists.

  • Welcome all to post racial America. I thought Obama's presence would make us all forget about race and so on and so forth. Yet another broken Obama promise. This is why he should have said nothing on the Martin case. This is getting out of control.

        • Actually several African countries are just fine. In many cases, due to the major religion being Christianity and/or because of a well enough oiled capitalistic endevours and keeping people in check (leaders). The African nations that have the most problems are either ruled by Islam or ruled by Socialism/Marxism and the leaders are dictators and with enough power they keep the people downtrodden. I am sure you would agree Rose that Islam is not a Black Africa issue alone and neither is Socialism/Marxism. Those problems that come out of these philosophies belong to everyone who subscribe to them willingly or unwillingly. Greece is a great example and the majority there are not Black and North Korea another one and again I dont think that Black people live there.

          As for your assessment, it is not about Black people ruling it all. It is about Black people (and hispanics and others) being use as tools so those in power (who come in different colors but are in truth mostly white) can remain in power and rule it all.

          • I iagree with your statements about the governments in Africa. In fact the world over, those types of Governments are consistently unpopular and unsuccessful. As for the Blacks ruling, that is the line people like JJ and The Rev are handing out. But you are right. Genrerally green is the winning color, no matter who holds it.

        • Truthfully Rose, it isn't a black or African thing, it's an American black thing. It is that they have been unwittingly kept in a sort of slavery mentality. Instead of going out and making a life, name, and living for themselves like the Herman Cain's and Michael Steele's of the world, the Al Sharptons have them convinced that they are owed something by the government and the white man, because a couple of hundred years ago someone they have no actual blood connection to, was made to work for food, clothing, and housing, but no pay, and treated badly as well. So now, they are going to be allowed to live for free on the "rich white" guy's dime. If you can call the slums, food stamps, and medicaid, living! But as long as they don't have to do anything for it, what do they care?
          What you don't see is black people that come here from Africa, the Caribbean, etc, acting like this. They want to work, and work hard. They see the opportunity to make a good life for themselves, and take advantage of the chance, only to be called "Uncle Tom" for wanting more than to be a welfare recipient.

          • Poppa is correct. I am an example of that and many others as he stated. I think if anything it is an United Stater Black thing. It is very very strange and many people of color in other countries say it again and again, that they don't understand US Black people. I don't myself. They have everything or can have everything with work or else through government programs and they still complain. It irritates me and many others. It is very hard to come from a country that TRULY keeps people down ESPECIALLY people of color, to come here and have all these wonderful opportunities and hear people complain because they did not take advantage of the opportunities that are so freely available to them.

Overall as I was telling another poster on another thread, there are a lot of factors as to why US Blacks (generally speaking however of course we know there are vast amounts of individual US Blacks that differ in behavior), that if things were different (no government entitlements, social and historical issues would have been different), we may not see this happening as it happens now. I think it boils down to the dark side of human nature and how certain humans react to certain stimulii. We have the people of Greece (who are mostly White) as an example of that. Not only them but many Europeans. What I stated above, if you substitute White Europeans instead of US Black people (try it), the statement still holds true!

            Any immigrant to Europe that truly wants to work and make a difference would say the exact same thing of White Europeans who are complaining that they should have 32 hours of full time and not 40 WITH entitlements and bonuses. I think that if anything bad -isms are to blame and the part of human nature that wishes to have everything for free and easy instgead of using their bodies and minds to work hard and have what they need for themselves and their families.

            You are absolutely correct. The white Europeans are just un-tanned versions of American blacks. They want everything given to them for a minimal effort, and cause lots of problems if they don't get it!
            They are all victims of the socialist mentality that tells them that they deserve more than they work for, because the rich people owe it to them.

          • We have a number of Africans from various countries in our Church., plus we loan out or Parish Hall for a local African Church to use for services. They are ALL without exception, lovely, friendly people. Hard working, VERY involved parents resulting in beautiful, obedient bright successful children with a sense of joy unseen in ANYONE in America, despite their history of abuse, torture, and genocide in their home countries. They love it here and shilt polite, they are relatively distant to local black residents who they feel act inappropriately and are less than thankful for the blessings they have, chiefly that of being born an American. They see the problmes, thye know there are still ots of legitimate issues to work on, but they WILL NOT fall into the behavioursof the racebaiters. They have seen the results of that kind of rhetoric and encouragement.

            The key to what you're saying, is that these are African immigrants that are in YOUR church. Which would lead me to believe that they are not Muslim.

      I'm an actual white man, unlike the "honorary-white-man-to-preserve-the-Obama/Media-narrative" George Zimmerman.

      I don't know any white person who would welcome these neo-Nazis to the tense situation in Sanford FL. It's hard to see how adding more nimrods to the existing pool of nimrods will help the situation.

      That's the beauty of us, as conservatives. We never take the collectivist way out, as does the other side. But, they can't help it. It's what they've got.
