    The cops in NYC are in a virtual work stoppage and yet crime isn't increasing.

    A true conservative would see that the Police is just another bloated, government bureaucracy that wastes or hard earned tax dollars.

  • If one had a criminal thought, this would be a very good time to rob and pillage the mayor's mansion. Or car jack mayor DeBolshevik himself. I imagine the response time to this call for help would be rather long.

If you get run over by some drunken moron you want the cops to look the other way. Maybe what we need for you liberals is an "Op-out form". You get murdered no investigation. You get robbed, no police response.

      • Thank you for proving my point. The cops are there to mop up after. Great for filling out insurance forms.
        They do little to stop crime, the vast majority of which are victimless anyway).

        • I won't give you a TD and hide your post, but I can't give you a TU either, because I know FOR A FACT that the police DO, in (admittedly) some measure, whether big or small and depending on a LOT of variables, deter crime.

          Your premise is all wrong. Sure cops do deal with aftermaths but they and the laws they enforce deter crime. Cops are only as effective as the politicians are at legislating and the judicial is at adjudicating.

          • How would you know if crime is increasing or decreasing? If the police aren't arresting anyone, then there's no record of crime. BTW, the work stoppage is directly aimed at revenue infractions. The police are hitting de Blasio in the wallet.

            Again, you're misguided because you blame the police for enforcing laws when you should be blaming lawmakers if you are opposed to the victimless crimes and revenue raising infractions.

          • 911 is fully functioning. Crimes are being called in and yet nobody is claiming a higher incidence of crime in NYC. Not the NY Times. Not the Village Voice. None of the left wing media is even hinting that crime is worse because of the cop slowdown.

            And YES I blame cops for willingly doing the politicians bidding. Nobody forced them to become cops. They happily decided to do what their Political overlords tell them to do.
            Especially in a extreme liberal city like NYC. Those cops are glad to violate your 2nd Amendment rights.

            There is a reason why municipalities don't hire people who are too intelligent to be a cop. They don't want cops to question the actions.

        • I am a cop asshole, Been one for a couple decades, Not a single complaint or lawsuit. I do shit the right way, Since you have NO experience as a cop, I find it funny that you can judge. A liberal trait, all cops bad..I deal with assholes like you every day, they think their shit doesn't stink and they can do no wrong and suddenly become a victim when they get caught. Plus I have put away more than my fair share of criminals. And never had to shoot one. So before you shoot off your mouth, maybe you ought to try and find out what its like. You got caught doing something and so now all cops are bad. And I stand by my statement, you are a liberal. and a troll.

            Let me ask you.....How many of those "Criminals" never hurt anyone and were just arrested for violating the rules set down for others?
            How many lives were ruined for drugs or consensual sex? How many for exercising their rights under the Bill of Rights?

          • Many. Those are the laws set down by legislators, people I can't really claim any respect for. That's why I'm a Libertarian. I want those laws eliminated, so that the police aren't so busy chasing down bullshit, and can concentrate on important things.

            It IS tho police who do evictions, granted that's because people can't (or won't) pay. But is ALSO the police the (s)elected offal are expecting to disarm the "people" when the order is given.

            Think it CAN'T happen? I would imagine millions of Germans, Russians, Poles, and others felt the same way. We all know the SCOTUS has determined that the police are under no obligation to "protect" the citizens.

            I only hope, that when/if the time comes, there are more cops like YOU than there are more cops like "them" out there looking out for me.
            We ALL know there are "bad" cops out there. The problem is, THEY are the ones that get the "press", while the millions(?) of good officers who do their jobs properly never make the news.

            The (I hope) MAJORITY of officers thinks as you do, and some (who get thrown under the bus for political reasons) still believe in and uphold the, shall we say, ideals, that drew them into that line of work anyway.
            I will be the first to admit that I have what used to be referred to as a "checkered past". But when I was doing wrong, I KNEW I was doing wrong. I was also willing to accept the responsibilities for my actions.

            The police had their job, and I had mine. There were times I was harassed for no good reason, and others when I was let go when I should have been "taken in".
            I always figured that when the cops knew me by name, it was time to move on But I NEVER begrudged them for doing their jobs. I ALWAYS treated them with the respect their BADGE deserved, because let's face it, not all OFFICERS are deserving of respect.
            Wow, I seem to be ranting again, so I will end it here, other than to say I never developed the attitude that I hate ALL cops based on the (admittedly) few bad ones I encountered.

            I am not going to give you any flack. Hell you can't imagine the number of people who hate the uniform, let alone the person in it. That I understand, What pisses me off to no end is lumping us all together when some cop does stupid shit. I always call them on it.

            But this troll lumps us all together. I spent my entire career trying to do the right thing. Have I pissed people off. You bet. sometimes on purpose. If I am working, and you attract my attention, You get an ass chewing, a citation or an arrest depending on what your doing. Thats my job. But what people don't know is the mundane shit we do every day. The calls that make you wanna scream. I can't count the number of kids that I see that come from homes that are just screwed up beyond belief. The people who are actually homeless thru no fault of their own. WE deal with that all day long. You either learn to distance yourself, or you'll go crazy like some and eat a gun barrel or find yourself at the bottom of a bottle.

            I can't even count the number of times I and my partners of the guys who work for me have bought people food, gas, toys for kids at Christmas. And I don't brag about it, it's part of the service. But that is the old school way. Today everybody things they are superman and they can do no wrong. Have I made mistakes? Hell yes. But none that have hurt anyone or injured anyone.

            I took an oath and take it seriously. And don't lump me in with cops that should not be cops.

            Sorry for the rant but I get so tired of people who know nothing about law enforcement giving me their opinion just because they read some shit on the internet. (and here I am writing shit on the internet..Irony meter hits ten...)

            Like I said, over two and a half decades, no complaints, no lawsuits, and no one shot. But I also run ahead of lots of others in statistics, citations, arrests, traffic stops because I work when I am on the street. Yea I have coffee. (No donuts)

            I love what I do, some don't. Some will never get it. Those of us that do, and I think I can include Deepthinker in this, end up with a great career and a lot of positives.
