  That is 1 of 2 that I would expect. The answer you gave is still BS because it does'nt take into account that islam has been at war with everything that is not itself since it was created.

      It was corporate greed if Ron Paul was president this would not have happened because Ron Paul is my hero because Ron Paul doesn't like Corporate Greed because Ron Paul says corporate greed is bad.

      • How exactly would a Libertarian "fight corporate greed"? Does he plan to enact laws that limit profits and then create an arm of the government to regulate and enforce them? Doesn't exactly sound all that libertarian.

        • DING DING DING. Excellent point. And even though I know your point is rhetorical I would like to answer it anyway. (Even thought it is probably completely unnecessary)

          The libertarian combats corporate greed by slashing corporate taxes to zero, getting rid of minimum wage, getting rid of nearly all regulation, saying no to TARP, government loans, bail outs, tariffs and removing all the other manipulation the government exerts over the market (including much of what currently comprises monetary policy). Then with a free market so many businesses get started that they have to compete for consumers by offering better products at lower prices. Those that can't compete go out of business. And those that can are put on notice that the market is a harsh master and they'd better not screw around.

          This is of course the exact opposite of what John wants. John is not a libertarian. John didn't even know who Gary Johnson was and has obviously never read John Locke, Thomas Hobbes, Ludwig Von Mises, F.A. Hayek or even Thomas Jefferson. John is a corporatist. He subsists off the very system he proclaims to hate.

        • I don't see how any of that "battles corporate greed." Libertarianism says "greed exists; get used to it." It doesn't battle it. One can argue that removing regulation and a minium wage improves production, but to say that it battles greed is nonsense.

          I just had a stay in Anaconda, MT; a once-thriving copper town. Back in the early 1900s it was a place full of power players. The copper kings had everyone in their back pockets. They owned the newspapers, etc. If you crossed them, you left town under your own steam on in a box - take your pick. That's how it works.

          Now you can say "OK, those bosses may have been monsters, but they provided jobs, built libraries, and paid for their employees' education." Great. Yes, they did that. But they WERE corrupt, they DID own the town, they WERE INDEED above the law, and the freedom they enjoyed did NOT curb their greed.

        • By battling greed I was (and I should have prefaced this better) being a bit tongue in cheek. The only thing I think of as greedy is taking from others what does not belong to you.

          In the case of the copper barons (IMHO) the correct response would be to move out of town. That was the beauty of America. As a federation of states each local area was supposed to be different. So the solution to combating ills like that is to leave and deprive it of its labor force thus driving up its production cost and making it less effective against competition and new technologies arising. And of course that is not an elegant solution. But given that 60 percent (and rising) of our paychecks go to some sort of tax, regulation, fee or inflation I hardly think the regulations to combat such ills have worked.

        • Well, there's the hitch in our conversation: the definition. I refer to greed in the religious sense: just acquiring money far in excess of any reasonable need. Even if it's earned, it can keep your brain on Earthly matters and pull you away from God.

  • Why bother with all that? Why not cut off California, and call it a new separate country? As for the remaining 49 states, the average IQ would go up several points.

    • I may need to go into my rant about why California should be dropped and why Puerto Rico should become the new 50th state. It mostly has to do with the flag not being changed and our country being more awesome.
