Bernie Sanders on the ‘Aggressiveness Among the Ruling Class’: So what would happen to those darn billionaires if only class warriors like Bernie Sanders could get just a little bit more of what they wanted? They’d be secure in their status because government regulation over the economy abolished their competition and forced the consumer to buy their substandard goods at fixed (and highly inflated) prices. In other words it would be just like now . . . only more so. Of course to be fair if Sanders were to get things completely his way those corporations that he now serves might vanish altogether. As would all expectation of the individual retaining the ownership of their labor, bodies and lives.

  • The only method to prevent candidates from "buying" elections is to use public money. Give each candidate a specific and equal amount to campaign with, ban all other sources of funds, then let the candidates go mano-a-mano What say you Bernie baby?

    • When I was in middle school and high school, I and my friends participated in a creative competition called Olympics of the Mind. Then the Olympic people complained, and it got renamed Odyssey of the Mind. Anyway, all schools, no matter the size, were given limits on how much they could spend, so that the big schools wouldn't have any advantage over the smaller schools. I've often thought that would be a good way to run campaigns.

  • Seems to me that if The Supreme Court opened up the flood gates for the wealthy to elect anyone they wanted, the did the same for the Democrats. So....doesn't that sort of equal out? I personally thing WAAAAAAYYYY too much money is spent in elections, but it IS being spent (and is certainly available to be spent) by all participants, not just extreme right wing applicants for the political poisitions.

    Anything or any Idea Bernie describes is scary...Why he keeps getting re-elected makes me wonder about the sanity of people that elect him....Bernie won't be happy till we all live off the government tit and answer only to people like him...I bet Ed got a tingle up his leg talking to Bernie....

  • "The Nation" is the spokesperson for people who still believe that communism was never given a fair chance to succeed. It's a worthless piece of bum wad.

    Bernie Sanders rounds up the usual suspects: the Koch brothers, "Citizens United", the "Ruling Class" (note that The Nation capitalizes the "Ruling Class" making it even scarier). You can depend on The Nation and Bernie Sanders not to have any insights or ideas and not to really question why Scott Walker won the recall election.

    • Good call. But of course they don't object to there being a "ruling class", they just want to be the ones in it. That and they want to expand to near infinity whatever powers they assume that class now contains.

  • Kip, not for nothing, but how do you manage to read The Nation and not have a stroke?
    I can't get past the first 2 paragraphs without throwing up from the force feeding of liberal bullshit!
    Any website that dedicates a whole section to OWS needs to have a massive server crash!
