Bill Clinton wants to ditch 22nd Amendment

Unexpected: serial sexual harrasser who served two terms as president wants to repeal the 22nd Amendment which prevents him from serving a third term. Sure, why not president for life? We see how well it’s worked having tin pot dictators like Henry Waxman and Barney Frank as a permanent part of the scenery in Congress. We’d prefer more potted plants, personally.

Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one.   • Which brings up another non partisan reason for the 22nd ammendment. Look at before and after pictures of just about any President. THey look really rough after 1 term, worse after 2. It is likely that the strain of office would preclude more than 2 terms to be safe health wise.

  • The last thing we need or I want is Bubba 2.0.....he's probably gonna assume room temperature for health reasons anyway, he ain't looking too good...

  • Someone like Bill Clinton is the reason for term limits. I can rest easy knowing that Bill Clinton will NEVER be president of the US ever again. There is no reason to change this. In fact, we should have term limits on all federal offices.

    • Actually, it was FDR who IS the reason. He abused the power of The Oval Office & did'nt care about the constraints the constitution put on him. He wanted a "2nd Bill of Rights", & locked up Americans in prison camps during WW2. Would Clinton have done that? I doubt it, & we'll never find out. Obama? I would'nt put it past him, & I believe he or those around him are looking for their "Reichstag fire" to assert more control over the nation in spite of the constitution.

    • The Congress passed the amendment on March 21, 1947. It was ratified by the requisite number of states on February 27, 1951

      beg pardon, but it kinda makes this old boy wonder if maybe ole sexually immoral bill clinton had to do with the current dearth of money for all.

  • People are abusing the First Amendment right now by offending Muslims and women and sensitive artists, so why don't we dump that one, and the Second Amendment, that's killing Mexicans by the dozen so it ought to go too, and there are quite a few others which are making it difficult for our Progressive betters to help us, so why don't we just scrap the whole Constitution and be happy?

    • We really have'nt had the constitution repsected since Woodrow Wilson took office. Obama would love to nuke it & write a new constituion. My guess is that the communist manifesto would be their guiding light.

  • One of the greatest Presidents ever and conservatives are jealous of the fact that the economy did really well under President Clinton.

    • The economy was NOT doeing as well-it was an over inflated bubble that burst in the normal course of business. There are always highs and lows in the market-Clinton's term in office increased the income of the top 5% just as every one else has. And people lost their shirts when the bubble burst.

      • Don't confuse him with the fact that he HAD to work with a GOP controled House with Newt as speaker.

        • His tax reform was extremely unique--something in fact conservatives never proposed. While I don't admire his gun control laws I think his economical policies were brilliant and I wish Obama would adopt them and use them today.

          • Not to mention a scalding hot bull market brought on by the tech bubble and a dramatic drawdown of the military after the USSR fell. Clinton was in the right place at the right time. He has no legacy other than being a womanizer, asleep during the rise of radical Islam, and presiding during a good economic cycle. IMO.

          • And allowing Osama bin Ladin to be released, rather than take him in as a prisoner and locking him up for good.

          • ANYTHING would be better than the model Obama's using. But then again,most of Clinton's policies came from Congress, which was heavily conservative at the time. In my honest opinion, I think Clinton was hoping they wouldn't work, so he could blame the Republicans for the mess.

          • The taxpayer relief act is just one of his few policies that weren't of the conservative norm. If my memory serves Clinton put a lot of attention on public opinion polls as well.

            He is worked so hard to appease the conservative Congress explain to me why Ginrich (a moron of a human being) was so adamant in trying to remove him from the white house? What the congress did to President Clinton was a complete disgrace to the US (not that I am justifying infidelity).

            Newt Gingrich is one of the smartest people in politics the past 20 years. Internally flawed but no "moron". I would love to see him wipe the floor with Obama in a debate. His takedowns of the media in the debates are thoroughly enjoyable.
