  • I can't help it. Every time I look at the headline for this thread, I see:

"Blame It on Global Cooling? Obama Has Lowest Average IQ of Any President on Record."

  • Just wait until the Fed stops pumping money into the system, it's gonna get ugly fast. The greedy bastards are already talking about negative interest rates, and sooner or later the specter of a national retirement fund will pop up when people's 401K starting getting gobbled up.

    • I read someplace that some banks are already charging large depositors to park their money at their banks.

      • I'd take it out in gold and silver. No way I'd pay them to store my money, especially when they're charging a shit-ton of money in interest on credit cards.

        • Credit cards? No way. I have one I use maybe once a year to keep it active then I pay the bill as soon as it comes in. You never know when you might have to roll because of family emergency or something.

The only money I keep in the local bank I use to pay my monthly bills and not much more. It isn't hard to transfer cash from a safe account somewhere else to here and the fees are not that much.

    • That's what I'm thinking. When the gooberment quits propping up the market the bubble will burst and the bubble is much bigger than when the collapse in 08 happened. Hundreds of millions of hard working Americans will get hurt the next time, there will be no retirement accounts left, just gooberment debt.

I have been moving money as fast as I can into gold, silver, munis, investments that are considered "safe" investments but will it be enough? Only time will tell.

  • Sorry, but since I have NO money in stocks....I am gleefully waiting for the bubble to burst.

    • Are you sure? It's hard not to have money at risk in the stock market: your pension fund is probably invested in the stock market, the local governmental unit where you pay your real estate taxes might have investments in the stock market, the money market fund attached to your checking account might be invested in the stock market, your church probably parks its extra money and/or building fund in a mutual fund, etc. People always think they're isolated from what happens on Wall Street and then WHAM. Last time (2008), who among us knew that when Wall Street got in trouble the damn Congress would start sending them our tax money to bail them out?

  • Its the fault of:

    George Bush
    Republicans
    Climate change
    Winter weather
    Bad cops
Kids not eating their school lunches
Bakers not making gay wedding cakes
    Christians
    The minimum wage
Not enough free crap for welfare mopes
Not enough electric cars on the road
    Guns
    Old rich white guys
    Not enough golf
    Draw Mohammed cartoon contests
    Not enough illegal aliens
    The end of NSA snooping
    Iran not having nuclear weapons
    John Kerry's broken leg

  • Hey, I'm no financial expert but I have common sense and a couple years ago I slept in a Holiday Inn Express. I keep telling people -- anyone who will listen -- that the reason the stock market keeps rising is because the money has to go somewhere and the damn Fed has interest rates so low -- zero basically -- that you can't make money by putting your money in the bank, you can't make money buying bonds, and you can't make money on anything else that involves interest. Normally, when the government is NOT massively screwing up the economy, investments are fairly equally divided between stocks and bonds. What we've seen since the financial crisis of 2008 is ALL that money that used to be in bonds -- all of it -- flowing out of bonds as they mature and into the stock market. This the bubble of all bubbles. Get out of the market now because when interest finally rise to where they naturally belong, the flow back out of the stock market is going to cause a horrendous correction.

  • Cheer up - government economic experts really, really expect things will pick up this quarter, and they are always right...well, almost always...okay, frequently...uh, sometimes...alright, never; close the garage door and start the car engine.
