  • Sawant is calling for machinists to literally take-possession of the Everett airplane-building factory, if Boeing moves out. She calls that “democratic ownership.”

“Ms. Sawant told KIROTV.com that, once the factories are seized, the workers could retool them to produce mass transit buses.”

Moronic statements like that are why we should build a wall between Idaho and Washington..... :)

And thanks, Ghost - good link to follow!

    • Yeah, toss out the execs and just "retool" the factory. Uh-huh. Where do they get the contracts for selling the buses? And the design for the buses? What about patents? Who buys the materials and necessary outsourced parts? Is there a market for overpriced, badly built buses? I'd love to ask this ignorant socialist some questions.

  • Uhm... yeah... Muslim countries building planes is just... uhm... wrong? Can I say that? Or is that racist?

Muslims and plane fabrication just don't mix to me... am I crazy right now?

I wouldn't mind South Korea, Singapore has high numbers of Muslims many in government making a lot of regulations and controlling of people's behavior. Yes very clean place, but not into it. ... so... no.

    • Generally speaking, Americans are idiots in dealing with foreign governments. Like we believed that Hitler would stop with Poland. We were cheerfully signing a peace treaty with Japan when Pearl Harbor was bombed. We need to remember that other cultures have no requirement to be honest with us. And they usually don't. No more teaching Middle Eastern governments and citizens how to wipe us out!

  • Pfft. Right now, I'd trust Arabs more than West Coast leftist unioneers. Go for it, Boeing.

A bit more seriously -- I have good impressions and recollection of the UAE. I remember getting off a ship in Dubai, and there at a rather informal Customs checkpoint were a couple older guys all dressed up in the traditonal gear, and a couple more in uniforms with AKs. I passed the one guy my shore pass, and he looked at it with a huge scowl, and asked, "You are American?" I nodded and said, "Yes, US citizen." (Just a bit nervous!) He started nodding and smiling. "Good. US, UAE are friends!" Anyway, I think if the government there had a serious financial investment in good relations with America, they'd be that much more alert to jackasses trying to eff up the works.

And that's more than can be said about Seattle.

  • They tried doing business in South Carolina, & the NLRB fucked that up. Boeing may just look abroad & not deal with the unions & the gov't regulators at all. It would suck, but I would not blame them.

  • Don't be surprised if Boeing ends up in a place like Singapore, or S. Korea. No unions in these places either, and the people already speak English.

  • What do wish to wager that the pray rugs welcome pre-installed just inside the cock pit door? Right along with box cutters and the all important sword fir be headings.

1st Boeing was blocked from moving to South Carolina to reduce cost, how is quagmires labor dept going to block this one. It sure as hell can't be on the grounds of national security with Heniz-Kerry bending over in front of the Iranians.

  • Boeing already has their foot in the door here in San Antonio at the old Kelly AFB. Toyota builds the Tundra down here and people were lined up at the door for a job. Toyota treats their workers like shit and they still stay for the money. Boeing could draw from a trainable labor pool and get by with paying as low as 16 bucks an hour to start, topping out in the mid 20s. The city and state would make the deal lucrative as far as taxes go. Win win for everyone.

  • Or they could come to, say, Texas. Where taxes are low, the government is friendly, and unions are laughed across the border. And did I mention land is cheap and we have a couple of the highest ranked engineering colleges in the nation?

    • As its being reported, San Antonio is one of 4 cities bei considered to move the operation to. We have closed military bases that are being repurposed, there is no union, and they already have some operations here. It would bring a lot of jobs, so peole here are praying to whatever God they believe in that it will happen.

    • Texas would be best, but if they INSIST on going overseas....Romania, Poland, the former east zone in Germany would all welcome them.
Motivated, if not skilled workers and the wages would not have to be high.
Germans, SKILLED Germans start at about 1000 euros a month.
I know a skilled metal worker/welder who is making about that....when he can work.
