Boortz to Bow Out: The Talkmaster has announced that he is hanging up his microphone on 01/21/2013 -either in celebration or with lamentations- ending a career in talk radio that has lasted over forty years. For many Boortz was the gateway drug into libertarianism and has been a longtime champion of the notion that devotion to political philosophy trumps adherence to political party. One of the best ever.
I loved Boortz when I lived in Atlanta, but I wasn't happy with his virulent pro-gay-marriage stance. I don't mind him having his own opinion, but I sure did mind the way he insulted and demonized anyone who didn't agree with his opinion.
Well, everyone has at least one flaw.

I know I'll miss him. As a young person developing my political beliefs I found that there were a whole lot of times when I just absolutely opposed to what both parties supported. This was a couple of years before the mainstreaming of the Internet and information was much harder to come by . . . so running into re-Bootz in the late night hours was absolutely enlightening. He has been my favorite ever since.
