Ten years after Katrina, Brad Pitt’s “ecologically sustainable” relief homes are rotting. That’s just the ones he managed to get built. 27% of the homes he promised are still waiting for financing because once Katrina was old news (i.e., George Bush was no longer president), Hollywood lost interest.

I recently saw part of an interview x with people who were actually hit by the hurricane in Mississippi. It was noted that New Orleans had a flood, Mississippi had a hurricane. New Orleans is built in a bowl (other than the French Quarter) and really should havever been there to begin with. That its a "great city in a mudhole." Despite millions of dollars given for New Orleans relief and rebuild, most of it IS still crap. Mississippi and other gulf states have cleared away b thedbris and rebuilt, Bolivar Poibt, near Galveston that got hit by Ike is back up and running. New Orleans is still a trash pile. And the Ninth ward should be cleared and made into a park or something. It has ALWAYS been a shithole.
It's been ten years. People are still standing there with their hands out. Waiting to be given something because they got flooded and George Bush the racist waited until the honorable Mayor Nagin called for help.
Look at areas up and down the Texas Gulf coast that have been hit by hurricanes and storms since then. Rebuilt and people have moved on to living their lives.
Galveston is awesome. It is still crazy to me when I remember how terrible it was after the hurricane and how awesome it is now.
Texas and Florida Gulf Coast, as well as the entire East Coast.
Not surprising: the "live for the moment" crowd has no attention span or skill for follow-through.
You know, when these ecohomes decompose they give off global warming gases. Building these will just guarantee the next Katrina is not far off. Now, let me tell you how the GOP is to blame...
I've been to New Orleans a few times and had a ball. It is a great place to visit and party but live there? Not this old cowboy. It is a crowded, dirty, crime ridden dump when you get away from the tourist traps and most of the city is below sea level, flooding every time it rains.
Why should we pay to rebuild all the shacks in the 9th ward? The next time a big blow comes through town it will all be washed away again so why waste tax money? If fools want to live there move in a bunch of FEMA trailers and they can get by with that.
Wonder how much he skimmed off the top in "Administrative" costs like his patron saint Killery.
