British researchers want to release genetically modified mosquitos in Florida. They breed their GMO bugs with fragments of genes from coral, cabbages, the herpes simplex virus, and E. coli bacteria… what could go wrong?

I don't see where it's any worse than using crop dusters on the public, spraying insecticides that the mosquitoes are already immune to.
Ok, assuming thereis no danger from the biting females, who carry THE HERPES VIRUS, what about the food chain. What happens when fish and water bugs eat the larvae who are genetically modified' How will they be affected? And how will THEIR predators be affected all the way up the food chain. And who in Florida? There are bazillions of mosquito ridden areas to try this out, many with minimal human populations. Not a great idea, IMHO.
I love the part about separating the males from the females before releasing them, so no females will be released. Can you imagine? One mistake, one sleepy illegal alien working the separator assembly line with a hangover, and you have a female loose and these things can start breeding.
Coral, cabbage, herpes, e coli... so a very hard stinky mosquito that causes cold sores and likes to poison egg salad sandwiches. Sounds wonderful.
I have a better idea, release them in Mexico. If it all works out, then maybe we can try it in California.

Why not breed them with the scent of money and we could get rid of a bunch of dip shit dim wits.
