Agree with the Mayor or not for a cop to violate a direct order and show insubordination to their Mayor should be rewarded by immediate dismissal.

It was a REQUEST from Bratton--not a direct order. Try reading before you go spouting your BS. Last time I looked, LEO also have 1st Amendment rights.

They are employees of the state. Employees have a right to free speech but as employees also are subject to dismissal.
If you had an employee that was insubordinate wouldn't you be right in firing them?
FYI Only a small and insignificant amount of cops threw a hissy fit so firing them would do nothing to effect the crime rate. Then again with the NYC cops slowdown showing that the number of cops employed by the city is unnecessarily high perhaps firing would be a good thing for the taxpayer.
Oh well. After a few days the NYC cops will be back to doing what they do best. Confiscate Guns from law abiding citizens and collect taxes.
