  • Maybe she can take a wrong step with that bad ankle or a bear might be so hungry as to make a meal out of her. Then she can try suing God. The old man has been pulling shit like this for years.

  • Now that I am a couple of months away from my first social security check I think I'll start suing everyone I worked for over the years. I'll start with the gooberment.

    When I got out of the service I had gotten a few holes poked in me I wasn't born with, a back injury, a busted nose and a knee that needed surgery to put it back together. Then I'll go to various employers. Another back injury, different disc this time, two broken elbows, another knee injury, the other knee, that required surgery, a few broken fingers and ribs and an ankle with a metal rod and bunch of screws to hold it together.

    I guess I've been doing things wrong all these years or I would have $5 mil. in my bank account. Things like trusting my employer to help me take care of the bills until I could get back to work? Not one ever reneged on me so I went beck to work for them. Maybe it's a pride thing that comes from being raised in a family where whining is not allowed. Would life have been easier if I had swallowed my pride and tried to take the easy way out?

    Not to me. The only reason I'm going for social security is I have paid for it, it is my money I want back from the gooberment! I've been banged up over the years and now I can't do what I used to do, it hurts too much. But I have always paid my way and I think I deserve to get what I paid for.

    I know this rant got a little off the subject but mooches and leaches like Sharpton rile me up. This daughter of his, another sorry excuse for a human being, gets me riled even more. She's another leach like her father, wanting a free ride on someone else's dime. No pride, no sense of self worth, just a useless example of humanity.

      I hear ya. I'm sorry for all that you had to endure and still endure, whiskeyriver. I wasn't in the service (1st kid in my lineage of either side who went to college, tho i almost enlisted, but that doesn't count)... However, after 10 years of trucking, i have all the physical niceties of that job, which was not just driving and backing into doors, but mostly floor-loaded BS from China which had to be "fingerprinted" as we used to say. (I had 2 other careers for total 35+ years and tons of O/T work.)

      I am on SSDI since 2010 b/c of being hit by a car while i tried to cross a street in order to call my dispatcher - get this - to say i was done for the day (unless he'd have something else). The accident was in 2002, the SSDI came at 2010, and the suit ended in 2012... after i was broke and in debt a quarter million dollars.

      Law suits for accidents are not easy, and i suggest to most people, if you're not a high-visibility client, your suit and your life will not go easily waiting for the pay-off, if there is even one.

      Now i just laugh at people crossing the street, knowing that the ones who do the chicken dance will likely have better and faster lawsuits, particularly since i actually do pay my insurance premiums, unlike the asshole who ran me over... wasn't even his own car. Gotta love the lawsuit-happy people. They make it so much worse for the real complainants.

      • I hear you. My stepson was rear ended in June of last year. He just finished with his chiropractic treatments last week, and now his lawyer gets to battle with the other guy's insurance co. He has 3 collapsed discs in his neck, and will need continuing treatment for pain throughout his life. He just turned 33. The only good thing is, he was sitting at a stop light, and the other guy was texting, not paying attention, AND he admitted fault! To top it off, he is a podiatrist, driving a new Lexus. He was carrying major liability coverage.
        I was rear ended in February of this year. It wasn't a major accident, but I was sitting in traffic, waiting for the cars in front of me to move. I was also sitting at a stop line at an intersection, leaving the way clear for people turning to get through. I'm not sure if the other guy could see well, because the sun was low enough to cause glare. I was looking down at my GPS to see if I could turn and get to my destination, when I was hit. I wasn't even sure I was hurt until the next morning, when I woke up with bad neck and shoulder pain. I'm still going to the chiropractor. I don't have a lawyer, because I don't think I will need one. I have no idea what the other guy's insurance coverage is, but I will probably take whatever they offer, if it's reasonable. One thing working in my favor is, his insurance co is my motorcycle insurance co, so I don't expect too much fighting. But then I may be naïve.

        • so long as each party has insurance, it will be less of a hassle, but still a hassle.

          the guy who hit me had no insurance, so my employer's and my auto insurance (both the same company, BTW) had to - get this - DEFEND THE defendant.

          you read that right. i have been paying into my ins company for over 20 years, and their lawyers were sitting on the OTHER side of the aisle. they also advised the defendant to be in contempt of court by not showing up. it was a brilliant plan, as the lawyers then did not have to question him in front of a jury... merely read his remarks off a 10 year old statement as they took the stand to pretend he was in the courtroom.

          i lost the accident case, imagine that. reason? i could not identify the car that hit me.

            They are in the top 2 for insurance costs, and they get away with this crap?
            I had a fender bender once, I was deemed at fault because I was backing out of a parking space, and someone pulled in the lot right behind me, and waited for me to hit them, while I was watching my front side and the car next to me.
            Damages were $1500, and I got a $500 surcharge on my insurance for 3 years. IOW, the insurance co was out $0.

          • exactly the kind of crap to expect in NJ, sadly. i still don't understand why my folks won't leave that stinkhole (northeastern area). their real estate taxes are so high, no retired person can afford to own a home in a 1/2 decent area, unless they're pulling in $60K a piece. but even if they did, WHY in the hell waste it on taxes there???

            in case anyone hasn't noticed, and i know you all have, the more you pay in taxes somewhere, the larger and shittier the dumps are in that state.

            but to bring it back to this original post re: sharpton's prodigy - yes, the suing is where it is, baby. in the coming years, we will witness some humongous SJW lawsuits shutting down some big operations unless they kiss certain peoples' rings. Caesar has already stated the goal is to "make" his opponents understand. have y'all heard that soundbite yet? i am not pleased WHAT-SO-F'kNG-EVER. ...more-so than at my accident case, comparatively. we may be holding the bag on an even bigger "award" nightmare soon.

          • I know. My mother is struggling with her expenses since my father passed 6 months ago. I tried to convince her to sell the house and move to Florida near me. If she "only" got what she paid for the house, she could buy something nice here and still have $200k left over! Then, she would be paying 10% of what she is now in
            property taxes! I understand that she wants to be near the grandkids, but she can't afford it!

          • i hear ya. it seems people do themselves in over sentimentalities, since the beginning of time, really. one the one hand, tho, with these older people (in their 80's), it is understandable as they might look at their balance sheets as something less important than time with family members in their last years of life... on the other hand, when younger people do this, they cause their own paralysis which impedes their upward mobility (or even mere survival).

            my folks will be broke most likely in a couple years and they consider it a losing battle at this point anyway since Uncle Sam will take it all once they get too old to live independently.

            this is the new middle-class curse, my friend. we'll have none of that lucky inheritance shit they speak of in those high political circles!!! (not for long.)

      (curious, slapped this in my calendar for 90 days hence just to remind us to check back. And why is she with a white girl anyway?)
